I just bought a 2000 Cyclone M2, the EBR shock on it is leaking and dirty all over, the tech at the dealer wants to spend 2 hours diagnosing it with a dye in the oil to make sure it's the shock leaking and not the cases. But the rear bounces up and down when riding. It's of course possible it's not set correctly, I can't find anything online on how to adjust it. Anybody know what the average shelf life is for one of these shocks? |

2 hours? Just spend the 2 hours cleaning up the bike, then run it and see where the oil leaks first. That's free, plus you get a clean bike out of it. I've never heard of someone dye testing a bike for leaks. To answer your question, they're known to leak. You could have it rebuilt(i think I heard about $200), buy another on eBay and hope it doesn't leak, or spend a ton on a penske/works replacement. |

there was also just a recent thread about the rear shocks with pictures showing where to adjust it, but I don't remember which thread it was. At the back of the spring cover, there should be two big nuts. Loosen the outer locknut, then adjust the inner one to adjust the reload. I think the general opinion posted with those instructions is that adjusting the old shock might make it start leaking, so if it's behaving, just leave it as is. Sounds like yours isn't though, so probably no harm in trying to adjust it. |

The OEM shock Is A POS. The shock has a rubber bladder that breaks, thus leaking. I had that shock sprung, valved and rebuilt. At 90,000 miles it had been rebuilt three more times. Finally The fellow at gpsuspension said he can't rebuild it anymore. The Penske they sold me has performed flawlessly for the last 20,000 miles. |

@Lake_bueller, can you post or PM the Race Tech contact info you have? I contacted the certified Race Tech shop here in Houston, TX and they said they couldn't rebuild it there. My S3 shock is still good but I was thinking of having my original M2 shock rebuilt to have on shelf. (Message edited by jim2 on December 14, 2016) |
