I'd like to know if they share the same shock the S3T y from 1997 and the X1 is from 1999. Thanks. |

They can use the same shock but they did not come from the factory with the same shocks. |

It's my understanding all tube frame buells can run the same shocks. However they come in two varieties, 14 inch and 16 inch. You can swap between the two provided you use the correct front shock mount. |

That's true of the fuel-injected tubers and the M2 models from those years: however, many shocks were used on early tubers before the standardization. Your '99 should have the 16 inch unless the recall was performed. You can change to the 14 inch with a new front mount. The TWIN site shows all S3/X1 16" shocks to be interchangeable. They have a great replacement for 499Euro before VAT, and they're in Netherlands, relatively close to you. |

The 99-00 S3T shock and the 99-00 M2 14 inch recall shock have different springs. The S3T is more firm and if you weigh less than 180lbs. you might not want the S3T shock. I have a 2000 M2 and I run a S3T shock and for solo riding I have to have the pre-load near the lowest setting, about 10%. For the M2 shock the pre-load needed to be set between 60% and 90% at the upper end of the range for solo riding. I hope this helps. I don't know how the M2 compares to the X1. |
