Hello friends, while I have my buell torn down are there sensors prone to failure at 25k that I might just deal with now?

CPS sensor
Throttle position sensor
Air intake
Engine temp
Oxygen sensor
Cooling fan
Fuel pump I just replaced so that sensor is good to go : )

All are easier to replace with engine out.
At 37k miles on my Ulysses I've replaced the fan and the O2 sensor.
Fan was total failure inop.
O2 sensor would throw a code randomly, but the engine never stopped running, and never ran bad...

The engine temp sensor is proprietary and expensive.

Fan, if you do a DIY is about $70.
check this thread for a how to http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/762330.html

Others here have replaced TPS sensor, a mustang part fits, from what I've read here on BadWeb.

How much is the engine temp sensor? It would probably be an easy piece to retrofit.

I had a CPS sensor fail at about 25k. And that's a "stall on the interstate" kind of failure (twice, as a matter of fact : ( ).

So if it were me, I might buy a new CPS and put it in, and carry the original with me on the bike as a "get me home" spare, knowing you will probably never use it.

Thats not hard to replace with the engine on bike though, so not really relevant to your question.

Thank you, good to know and can only come from collective experiences in a forum.

Last time I looked, msrp for the engine temp sensor was $85.
And, it's Buell specific...

A few years ago I tried, and failed, to find the manufacturer of the ETS.
I did find a place that said they could make them, but they would need the blue print or engineering paper to do so with accuracy.

Rear cylinder Engine temperature sensor wire has a rubber boot that doesn't seem to have a place to fasten. Does this boot ride down over the sensor connection?

Cool. The 2007's and earlier didn't have that boot or that good of an insulator. Never had one fail, but it always looked like they would.
