I'd guess between $20,000 and $25,000. Folks will praddle on about $50,000 . . . but it's never happened. If you've got $25,000 and are serious I can hook you up with a bike with many less miles on it. Likely the rarest, and most valuable Buell, is on the hands of a Badwebber in Bay Shote, Long Island. :-) |

The RR1200 BattleTwin is, perhaps, a bit of a different animal. I am still kicking myself for now buying the new one (less than 100 miles) when it was reposted and sold by a bank in Bern, KS for $5,500. The RR1200, at least to me, had a somwhat greater appeal due to the Evolution motor and ease of maintenance. While I loved my XR-1000 motor (nothing except a 1967 G.T.O. sounds better when the throttle is cracked) it was a bike that required a constant . . . "ride it for a while, work on it for a while". And . . . by the time the RR1200 came on the scene the start up difficulties of dealing with the bodywork were known and better managed. For a while, less than 50% of the body sets made it on bikes. So my affinity with the RR1200 is largely personal. One of the most attractive things, about both the RR1000 and RR1200 is the engineering genius. There is nothing quite as satisfying as removing the bodywork and simply staring at the bike. Each and every time you do that you are treated to a glimpse inside Erik's pure genius. You see how a single parts serves multiple purposes . . . how things are positioned to advance the overall design, not get in the way of something else. I used to have my bodywork off about 50% of the time and would, in the midst of winter, heat the garage and sit next to the bike waxing and polishing the frame . . gently moving ty-raps aside . . . cleaning any dust away and positioning them back in place. The value of any of these older Buells is going to be the result of the confluence of passion and funds. I, even when I had quite a collection, couldn't allow anything to just sit. I rode my XLCR to the grocery store . . . my XR-1000 to kids soccer games and my weekly Thursday trip to distribute paychecks to the crews all over Kansas was generally on an RS1200. But . . .as my friend Dan can attest . . . there is nothing prettier to have adorning your office than an "new" RR1000. His, if I recall, has 6 miles on it. Fun stuff . . . . and it, even after 30 years, grows more amazing each time I go back through stuff. |

FAT Walter?? Who would have guessed... The bike blew up Facebook yesterday - or at least brought to my attention. Apparently it's been on Buellxb.com as well if you associate with those types of places. Hasn't run in 15 years and a LOT of dust, with 190 miles. From his pics on FB, Walter doesn't look that fat, I'd hate to hear what you call me... 1313 |
