I have thrown a check engine light and I am looking for some help in the Cincinnati area with espy unit to check my code. Aaron |

You can get a cable for about $30 and a bluetooth dongle for $45, which can be used with EcmDroid (free) on your smartphone. It was really simple to get going & doesn't cost anything anymore going forward. With the time and gas wasted going back and forth, might as well get the tools to do it yourself. Check EBay or Google. |

In the interim, find the data link connector. With the connector lock at the 12 o'clock position, connect pins 1 and 2 ( the 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock position )together. I made a jumper wire; lots of folks here use a paper clip. Turn the ign switch on, and after 8 sec a series of flashes will appear on the check engine light. Count them, and you have the trouble code. All from my '08 XB electrical diagnostic manual. Hope this helps, Dave |
