Not exactly sure why you found any of this entertaining. Just another day for me, deep in the flatlands of Georgia. |

Greg. They know they lost the war. And it pisses 'em off. Every mile you go South of I20, you go back in time one year. You guys up North think you've got poor people and no jobs. Come live in the South a while. (And don't try to blame GW, it been this way for years) |

I've seen a lot of you brilliant Northerners buy creek water from us Southerners. Please refrain from making fun of the South, it rubs me the wrong way. Thanks in advance. |

I love the razor wire on the fence at the coon dog cemetery! It reminds me of Oklahoma. My sister lived there several years ago. Seems like everybody had at least one broken down washing machine in their yard. (Message edited by m2me on October 11, 2004) |

OMG Yes, you've just made me homesick !!! Corner grocery, exactly like a few in my hometown, dilapidated barns yep, junk in the yards oh yea looks like my previous neighbors homes, roadside dinner you must have been in my town, and barb wire fence and big cows, yep home sweet home !! This is a bar in Kentucky, Nothing wrong with that bar, a fine redneck bar, early morning crowd and notice there are more trucks than cars including the ugly green one over to the left !! LOL Coon dog cemetery, I've never seen anything like that, and Memphis looks just like I remember it !! Bet you had a grand time, I can see the grandson did !! CJ |

Dyna, you're inviting unflattering stereotypes of Wisconsin to appear here someday. People in glass houses... I'm from SE Wisconsin and my wife is from Alabama. I love/hate both places for their own reasons and I'd rather not see folks poke at fun at either of them. |

Be careful squid... I'm certain one could go into your home town and take the same sort of shots at you and yours. Besides, I really don't see the point in making derogatory comments for no apparent reason. Although you've given me (and everyone else here for that matter) the justification to do so to you, I'll pass in the interest of good taste. -- |

I lived in Southern AR for all of my life except the last 3 or 4 I’ve been up here, I don’t see the pics as offending, seriously it just is what it is !!! I went to Tomahawk this summer, we rode down Hwy K and C, and I told my friends “dang if it was 100 degrees you would swear your in Arkansas” !! I have lots of friends here in WI, not just riding friends and they do honestly love to point out things, sayings or whatever that reminds me of home, and I’ve never had anyone to make fun of me or where I’ve been raised except in good fun !! Maybe you guys are being just a little sensitive, lighten up some !! Some of the pics do remind me of home, things I used to never notice because I lived there and like djkaplan said, it’s just another day in the life of those who live there. But now that I’m here in WI, I appreciate the uniqueness of where I was raised a lot more now, I’m glad to see the pics posted !! And seeing how many pics Dyna took and posted (like he does every event he attends here in WI, complete with his comments to those too, he’s just trying to be entertaining), they do appear to have enjoyed the trip and scenery, if they had been miserable they would have simply drove faster and not taken the time to make those stops. I’m glad to see they did !! CJ |

CJ, ordinarily I wouldn't care at all. In fact, ANYONE could have posted the exact same pics with the exact same commentary and I'd get a good laugh. But that guy simply grates on my last nerve. If we posted at his sophomoric level, this board would be just like SACBORG. |

Exactly Chris, we went to visit the in-laws & had a great time. Some of you need to take a class in how to have a little fun, hell if you cant poke a little fun every now & then you may as well be dead. Anyone want to similar pics with WI be my guest, I would love to see them. I think it would be hilarious. Dago...boo-hoo, get over it ya baby. |

Jason, no kidding. Ultra sensitive crybabies that cant have any fun. I suppose they all wanted to hang Bill Engvall or Jeff Foxworthy too? Spend a week in the deep south & its like a whole nother country, some of it even has electricity & running water (Message edited by dynarider on October 11, 2004) |

I'll vouch for the south being like another country. I grew up in the rural part (yeah, like there's another part? lol...) of northeastern AL, now I'm in San Francisco, and it would be hard to imagine any two places more different anywhere in the US. I always have a few moments of "culture shock" every time I'm back there for a visit. |

Squid, there's nothing to get over. And no, I've never wanted to hang the likes of Bill Engvall or Jeff Foxworthy. These days, we only hang yankee stone throwers. So please stop by sometime! It's been a while since we had a good hangin' 'round these here parts! |

if you are a da#m yankee and you find yourself in a tense situation in a southern bar, say like reminding them they lost the war, just remember this. you'all, means one person. if there's more than one person hittin you in the face, the correct greeting would be, all you'all. |

Greg thanks for the pics, it reminded me of when I lived in South Carolina. Both the funny and the unfunny presented in a comical light hearted way. MAybe the others had a bad day and just can't seem to look at the light hearted comments as what they were, but I did and I do appreciate you putting a nice smile on my face with regards to some of the worst memories of a place to live I have. |

My grandson getting into the southern spirit in his Coonskin hat This is the road leading to the Coondog cemetary, if it wasnt for the amount of gravel this would be a fantastic sportbike rd, very twisty with a lot of elevation changes. No expense is too great for a marker on your beloved coondogs grave And to keep it sorta bike related, we did stop at the HD dealers in Tuscumbia AL, And whats the deal with this place?? Do they water their gas down? They were the cheapest of anyplace at $1.78 for regular, yet I also got the worst mileage while on that tankfull....every other tank I averaged right around 20mpg, yet with the gas I got here it was 17.5mpg.

Again, if it was coming from anyone else... I guess squid has a bit of a following here that I don't understand. Perhaps he's a nice guy face-to-face. But I've been watching this board for quite some time now and have yet to be able to figure out why people like him. Perhaps he's a good case study of the attitudes people take online vs. in person? It doesn't really matter in the end. BTW squid. I was just joking about the hangin' comment, hence my wink-smiley. I got a good laugh at your response though. It must be stressful walking around with that chip on your shoulder all the time. |

I was rather suprised at the complete lack of any type of park rangers or security at the Dam. In Fontana near Deals Gap they have a security force & also local cops keep an eye out. If someone wanted to create a huge mess & cause massive flooding it would be ez to do here. I was trying to teach my grandson how to throw rocks into the water. He learned pretty good too
