Hey guys,

I picked up a project bike that runs pretty rough. I cleaned the jets and was able to get the bike to fire up. When I hit the throttle I do not get any fuel through the accelerator pump.

I pulled the carb apart again and let the bowl soak in carb cleaner for a few hours I also took the accelerator pump diaphragm housing apart which looked pretty clean. I am thinking that the opening/port of the AC jet is clogged. I let this sit with the jet sitting in carb cleaner but cannot seem to fix the clog.

When I push the "rod" down against the diaphragm th fuel in the float bowl is ejected through the opening in the bottom of the bowl. If i put my thumb over that hole to try to force the fuel or carb cleaner through the AC jet, I get nothing (just feel a lot of resistance).

Is there a good way to clean the AC jet system aside from soaking it in carb cleaner?

Thanks!

The acc pump tube is press fit into the float bowl. Carefully ( a piece of rubber over the tube, grasp with pliers)twist the tube up and out. Mind where the hole in the tube is pointed.

Either stuck in the bottom of the tube, or in the float bowl will/should be a needle, similar to the float needle. Get that out. Now the tube and acc bits can be cleaned. Soaking in carb cleaner will work much better now.

Put the needle back in, then twist/press the tube back in. Put some fuel in the carb and work the throttle shaft and confirm proper operation.

Hope this helps, Dave
