Glad to see that he's still got his 2009 Ulysses. |

He must really like it, he tends not to keep bikes very long. |

Glad that Egan is optimistic about the new owners. I respect his opinions. I identify with his theory on age and ideal riding temperature. |

Good things to hear. Egan's story on the '06 Ulysses was the shot that bagged the sale for me back when. |

Yes, I also remember Egan's story on the '06 Uly. Got me into the fold. BTW, had the first hiccup with the water-cooled GS: U-joint seized up, they're overnighting a new driveshaft for me. Still hope to keep it till 2019, then look around at what EB (and others) are up to. So this article was some promising news; I've always respected Erik as an engineer and designer. We ME's stick together. --Doc |

So you can't just jam a new U-joint in there like in an old dodge? |

At least his didn't do this! Whenever someone bitches about Buell's belt drives, this pic usually pops up in the thread. |

Yea, I remember the 06 reviews. The first time I saw the bike I thot, wow that's an ugly bike. Then the more I read about it and the more I understood what I was looking at, I fell in love with it. Then... the Peter Egan story put me over the edge. I just couldn't afford one. Many years later I finally was able to get a hold of one... love it! |

Is it possible to read this somewhere online? Here's the Cycle World issue that introduced the Uly. There are some comments by Egan but he didn't write the article: http://www.cycleworld.com/assets/download/Buell_CW Reprint.pdf Egan later wrote an article about taking a Uly on the backroads through the mountains of Virginia. I'm not sure what issue that was but I believe it was early 2006. That article was included in his book "Leanings 3". A portion of that article is included here: https://books.google.com/books?id=KufUBAAAQBAJ&pg= PA276&lpg=PA276&dq=egan+%22cycle+world%22+ulysses+ bluegrass&source=bl&ots=QZ7edEjQmA&sig=SJEV_ci7woB Y6pNMBsIGFmLMES4&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi_rr2z9tvLA hUEwmMKHb3YC9IQ6AEINTAD#v=onepage&q=egan%20%22cycl e%20world%22%20ulysses%20bluegrass&f=false |

Don't feel bad Dr. Greg. You can't swing a cat without hitting a flaming bmw final drive around here! (Message edited by panhead_dan on March 25, 2016) |

They sound like a good match for EBR. Bill Sr.,who is exactly my age,but looks even more youthful and fit,if that's possible.} Ha Ha Peter. |

I'm still here. Sorry for the delay in communication. Well, I ended up changing the tire myself. Broke the bead with a couple wood-working clamps. Balanced the tire with Ride-on. It seems to work perfectly...and provides some measure of protection against flat tires. Glad to hear EBR is still going! I love American ingenuity! |
