I am in the process of replacing my weeping clutch slave on my 09 CR. I ordered a new kit from EBR (through LAP). Once I got the cover off and removed the slave assembly, I immediately noticed the difference in piston diameters between the EBR setup and the Buell setup. Without changing the clutch master, if the EBR slave is installed, it will have a longer stroke, and the force at the lever will be increased. This is either an intentional change from EBR, or I possibly purchased a slave cylinder to be paired with a different master cylinder. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on the subject. In the photo: EBR on the left, Buell on right. EBR slave piston diameter (left): 37.75mm Buell slave piston diameter (right): 40.90mm (note the lovely patina and bouquet on the Buell piston)

I have installed the EBR piston 1 year ago on my 08' 1125R, because the OEM was leaking.... It works great ! The leakage has ever since stopped , and the "feel" on the clutch lever has improved significantly.... It doesn't engage at the near end on the travel as it used to... Much better now ..... Do you plan to remove the "patina" from the EBR piston? |

I'd think that the diameter of the slave is fine, and actually probably gives more modulation like Vagelis stated... I've an 08 that developed a leak right after I got it at 4900 miles. 1000 miles later I finally broke down and bought a new set from Oberon - Ordered it direct from Oberon on Thursday morning, received it at my door Friday early afternoon! Had it in my bike that night, but due to other commitments didn't get to try it out until Sunday - most excellent. Two finger pull on short levers. Smooth as silk. I had some trepidation, thinking that how much can clutch effort be improved, but if anyone is considering it and especially if you have a leak I'd certainly go for it. It wasn't cheap, but I'm certainly happy with it. |

My 2008 1125R was fine, my 2009 which sat for 3 years before I bought it developed the leak. The EBR fix has been working great |

Cbi, how does the inner diameter compare between the two? The surface area is really what matters. If the ID is the same, then yes, the surface area of the two will be different along with stroke and lever effort. |

EricZ, the inner area of the pistons is the same between the EBR and Buell setups. Thanks to everybody who posted for the info! (Message edited by Cbi on April 06, 2016) |
