My back rest won't go down anymore. I insert the key and push the detent but the back rest doesn't want to slide to the left to release
Anyone have this issue

I had mine get wobbly due to crap getting into the little teeth.

It's not hard to take one side off and look over the mechanism.
Probably just needs to be cleaned out and lubed a bit. (like mine)

Tap the back rest, gently, with a rubber mallet while pushing on the key.

After I broke mine loose, I put grease in the teeth.

Bare aluminum teeth gunk up pretty quick.

Hit it harder.

I took the key part out of mine, and ironically haven't had any issues since. (Don't ask me how, it was a long time ago but I seem to recall a how-to here on badweb somewhere at the time).

Silly question did you lift plastic lock that keeps the mechanism from sliding?

Try Teflon spray for snow shovels. Dries very slick, not greasy.
