Can anyone help me?

I recently purchased a new 2005 XB9-SX and while it’s been bliss from day one (this is my first REAL bike) I’ve developed a small problem. When I accelerate from 50 to 60 mph between 3-4k rpm I’m getting an alarming lurch in the acceleration. It feels like I’m closing and opening the throttle but I’m not. I get 2 to 3 such “lurches” then it smoothes out and it’s fine. I’ve owned the bike for less then a month and I’m quickly reaching the 1000 mile service mark (890 miles as of this morning). Can anyone tell me what the culprit might be? any advice would be appreciated.

fuel injector problems possibly?

Your throttle cable is probably loose. It should be taught just so that there's no slack. You can tell by feeling how much slack it has with the engine off. Grip the throttle with your thumb and forefinger and try to turn gently. If the throttle turns without any resistance, then you'll need to take up the slack. The manual has instructions for adjusting it.

Thanks for the advice. I just ran out and checked the throttle grip as you recommended but no slack at all. It seems nice and tight. Thanks anyways though, I would have never thought of that.

As for the fuel injectors, I did consider them and I've been thinking of putting in some STP fuel injector cleaner and seeing if the problems goes away. Any thoughts on this course of action anyone?

I had a problem similar to that, but it happened from like 5500rpm and up. The bike would stumble and buck and act like i was opening and closing the throttle. It turned out the timing was out of adjustment. Dont know how or why it got out but it did.

I would suspect TPS and timing or possibly a rubbed through 02 sensor wire. I've heard of them rubbing through and grounding out. It could be that the vibrations at that RPM are just right to cause the contact.

Thanks for everyones responses you've been very helpful.
I had my friend who's been riding and working on his Buell (AN S1 White Lightning) "ALLOT" longer then me ride it tonight. (We swapped bikes for 20 miles around town) He feels the injectors are the problems and since I'm due to take her in any day now I should just have the tech look into it. On a side note I'd like to add that riding his S1-WL left me with the indelible impression that it is one BAD**S ride! While he was busy trying to find my XB's problem I was busy finding Jesus.
