The speedo on my CityX won't answer the bell sometimes.
It will just sit there while the tach needle will swing through its arc when I turn the bike on. After a while, it will start working but show an incorrect speed.
Most times it works fine, though. Got any ideas?

Either take it to the dealer under warrenty, or pull the speedo sensor and clean the magnet off. It might have some shavings from the break in stuck to it.

Interesting, I have the "other" problem on my CityX. Maybe 1 out of 10 starts, the tach needle won't do the swing thing when the bike boots up. Once it warms up and I blip the throttle, it pops to the right place.

I think of it as the bikes "lucky fin". Unless it gets worse in the next two years, then it will be a warranty claim, lucky or not ; ) My first street bike (a Yamaha Radian) did the exact same thing, so its actually a nice bit of character.

It's not the classic speedo sensor failure, the "xb-S" bikes were the only ones that were safe from day one, they use a filtered regulated voltage source for the sensor. Could have metal on it, but I doubt it.

My guess is that it will clear itself up over time.

Keep gas off your airbox Ned. 9 out of 10 times it's harmless, but I had one batch of gas from a generic station that marred it. Nothing novus could not clean up, but it could be a lot of work if it's a bad spill.
