While putting new wheel bearings in the rear wheel of the '08 R, I took the time to scrape off the red/orange reflective trim tape someone had applied to both sides in the past. Once the tape and the adhesive residue was removed, I realized it was covering a number of chips and/or scratches in the paint or powder coat on the wheel. Someone got careless when changing a tire, by the looks of it. I know that Al at American Sport Bike sells cans of spray paint on his web site, but am wondering if anyone knows of a source for touch up paint. I'm thinking of the small one ounce or so bottles with a brush in the cap that are commonly available for most cars. Might be able to find something close in nail polish, but don't know if that comes in a non-glossy version...not much experience with nail polish here... BTW, got my wheel bearings at NAPA without checking the price first...won't do that again. $45 each for SKF. Could have got the same bearing on Amazon for considerably less. Try your local HD/Buell shop. Diamond blue IIRC. You'll have to buy two bottles as they come in a 2pack. Hope they still carry them. Z |
