My 06 uly has always been hard on batteries and it looks like she is doing it again after 2 1/2 years. What are people putting in their bikes nowadays. Cycle gear a local mogo retailer is advertising/pushing lithium batteries, does anyone have any experience with them. My main concern is their propensity to explode, which given the location is of some concern. I would like to Thank you all for your help in advance |

I have a Shorai that is in my Harley Electraglide and it will probably fit in the ULY. My son's 07' ULY has had a Shorai for the past couple of years without issue. I had a Shorai in my 06 ULY and the regulator went south and took the Shorai with it. That is how I ended up with the Harley sized Shorai. It was a battery that someone sent back to Shorai and I talked them into shipping it to me for free. It was brand new from the looks of it. Fires up the Hog like NOW. The Lithiums are unbelievably light compared to lead-acid. I think they are great batteries. Here is one I just read about while typing this. Not cheap but worth reading about though. http://earthxmotorsports.com/shop/ETX24C |

My local Batteries and Bulbs told me the Duracell AGM is made by same company that makes HD batteries(Decca if I remember right). HD batteries are said to be very good. They have a two year total replacement warranty on them at Batteries and Bulbs. Not a pro-rated replacement like most auto-parts stores. I previously tried Vartha batteries because they were supposed to be Europe's go-to battery for years and the store right next to me had them. They just opened a US plant two years ago. However, after three pro-rated replacements I have determined they cannot hold up to the motorcycle environment. I would avoid Vartha. |

I ran my factory battery in my 06...up until last year. Replaced it with another factory battery. |

Same here... 2009 Uly. Just replaced the battery last week with an HD factory battery, based on reviews from the BW. Turns the motor right over. ...without the "pause" <grin> |

Shorai are nice and light unless you want to ride in the cold. I found them to be lacking in the cold. YRMV I'll stick with heavy batteries for now. If mine goes south I have one out of my 08 Uly waiting on a maintainer. The battery wasn't bad, the regulator was. |

I use the YUASA YTX14-BS. First one lasted over 7 years. http://parts.southernhonda.com/p/Honda__/BATTERY-Y TX14-BS-YUASA-MSDS/55051030/31500-HC4-726AH.html |

yuasa has new model GTZ or X will look tomorrow great upgrade really spins over quickly with the higher cranking rating. can get specs on yuasa web site as well. did require thin spacer between terminal and cables which i had on hand from previous battery so watch cable clearance |
