Hello, everyone! I'm hoping someone can help, I did search the subject. 2002 Blast. (I put P3 in profile, but I don't know what model it is.) Bike hasn't run in a few years. Filled carb with tank off, started right up. Flushed tank, and re-installed. Won't start. Clogged fuel line. Clogged hard. Tried to force heavy wire through it. Very difficult. Weird. Removed carb bowl, and sprayed carb cleaner into jets, and float valve. Checked that float was free by jiggling with my finger. It seems like the float valve is stuck open now. What have I done wrong? It will start with a little gas, but gas seems to run right through it. I watched some videos that said "don't touch the float." Is it really that delicate? I have not tried to adjust the float, it seemed fine before I cleaned it. How do I remove the "pin" that the float pivots on? With a drift and small hammer? Thanks for any advice, I'm a bit frustrated. | ||

Sounds like you flushed a bunch of dirt into the carb. Probably dirt in the needle seat. No hammer and punch, pin should slide right out. Slow/pilot jet is also probably clogged. If you haven't already: replace the fuel hose and install a cheap clear fuel filter (the kind for an air cooled VW). Most floats are delicate, at least the adjustment is. Heavy hands ruin the adjustment. Avoid flushing anything else out. Seafoam if you must. Just run the clear filter. | ||

Thanks. I'll try to get the float pin unstuck, and clean everything out better. I was pretty gentle with the float. Hopefully, that will take care of it. I will need to add a filter. I do appreciate the response! |
