I have the option where I live in western NC of 93 octane containing 10% ethanol or I can also get 90 octane straight gas. Any thoughts from the huddled masses? |

Try both out. You will likely see a small bump in fuel economy on the straight gas. The lower octane shouldn't be an issue assuming your bike is healthy. Straight gas does not exist anywhere near where I live but I've tried it many during my travels, my bikes run the same but I can go a little further before the fuel light comes on. Do the math, it likely is not more economical to keep buying it. |

If given the choice, price being near equal, I always go for the non alcohol gas. I have found that the premium in either is best for an engine that is going to sit for a while without running, with a heavy preference on non alcohol. I have tested all of my vehicles and find a difference of 8 - 10 % drop in fuel mileage with alcohol, the octane makes smaller measurable difference. |

I have used both and see no difference in performance or milage. |

Unlike a lot of others, my '08 XB12XT is susceptible to poor running from ethanol gas. Fortunately for me, the closest gas station to my house has non-ethanol gas, but only 90 octane. It sucks in general because this is the bike I take on trips and I haven't found any ethanol treatment that works with all the gas I've been forced to get on the road. There's a website for locating non-ethanol gas - if only I could get those as points of interest on my GPS... Consider yourself lucky if your bike can't tell the difference, 1313 |

When industry went to ethanol from mtbe, all other options supposedly stopped. What is the oxygenate in this non ethanol fuel? Just visited with a bueller from brazil, and he was saying they have 25% ethanol across the board in their fuel. He's repaired countless fuel pump wiring on buell due to their fuel |

I add SeaFoam to my fuel often. I use it at 125ml to 4 gallons. Could there be a risk of any kind? |

wouldn't be much different than the ethanol that is in the gas. should help in the combustion chambers a lot. |

Ethanol Sucks! Period. Bike runs perfect on 90+ octane gas and gets 6 more mpg. Go back to 93 octane ethanol and it pings, starts harder and drops mileage. |

The only time I like ethanol is winter... gas anti-freeze. My brother from Texas stayed with us for a while. One winter morning, around -10dF the car wouldn't start. I went into the garage and got a bottle of Everclear and poured about a pint in the gas tank. We went inside and had some coffee and a smoke, went out and the car started right up. He just shook his head. Z |
