If running a chain, what would be the gears needed to get back to stock gearing on a S3? |

Go to the "sportster/buell" section on Baker drivetrain's website. Go to parts & acc, then buell chain conversion kits. They list the teeth for sprockets and the equiv for belt set ups. |

I would take a guess that 22 tooth counter sprocket & 51 tooth rear wheel sprocket would be close. If you want it taller 23 counter. But I would see how you like 22 51 first |

Mine was a 27 front 61 rear which is 2.26. If you can't find it in your owners or service manual just mark one of the teeth on your sprockets and count them. |

S2 was 29 F 61 R All other DOM (domestic) tubers were 27 F 61 R HDI (International, i.e. Euro) bikes were typically 29 F 55 R There might be some 'unusual cases' but as a general rule the above is pretty accurate, 1313 |

1313, there was one other DOM exception, the 97 S3 also used a 29 front (changed to 27 in 98), likely left over from the S2 bin as was the initial S3 dash (which changed slightly during the 97 production run and completely changed for 98). |
