The bike has been standing for near on a year now as I have been messing with the MZ Baghira. I bought it to use on my short commute runs as this is not good for the Uly in the long run. Also I did not want it stolen/ vandalized which is what people keep doing to bikes in London. They tried it on the MZ and I had to have the bike recovered and fit a new ignition/ steering lock system. Man that was a pain in the bottom. Anyways I re-fitted my 06 bikes battery, which only had a 12.2V charge on it, and the bike started first turn. It "idled up" ok and then settled to its normal idle speed fine. It still had the old fuel in it as well. I did not ride it as it is not legal to do so at the moment but will be soon. Amazing. |

Good news, Uly man. I am about to put my 06 Uly back on the road after a similarly long layoff. Here's hoping it starts as easily. It's been in a garage in a warm country. Do you keep your Uly in a garage? I assume you do in London. When I lived there, my Uly was garaged. I bought it at Riders in Bristol. |

I just had my first ride on my 06 in a year and a half layoff due to a breakdown, a bit of frustration and having other bikes to ride, felt frigging fantastic! I've missed her, ran like a top! |

I'm looking forward to riding mine again, too. What was the breakdown due to, Bobbuell1961? |

Throttle shaft snapped for the second time, I forget who sells a replacement shaft on the forum, but I had bought one, mines a 06,the throttle body had been replaced with a 07 unit the first time, anyway it would not run worth a crap, I got frustrated the bike sat then I needed to move the bike and I bought a new throttle body and it runs like new! Turned 76K a couple of days ago and as happy as I was when I bought it new. |

76,000 miles. That's good news, but there's no reason why they shouldn't. |

I got my ol' 'rubbish' machine out yesterday for a spin. Wasps had taken over my shed where I store our bikes. Damn things did not want me to get the Uly out without a battle. I topped up the battery charge, checked the air pressure in the tires, checked the oil, cleaned it up a bit and rode to town. Like butter! Runs so smooth and shifts so easy. It will snick up through the gears without clutching if I desire. I gassed it up with non alcohol premium and did about thirty five miles for a sixteen mile trip(again). American for "rubbish" is "Piece of shit". I still like my POS quite well even though I have not been riding near as much as I used to. 61,400 of the best and happiest permagrin induced miles I have put on any vehicle that I have owned. |

Yeah, it's a wonderful bike. I'm changing the primary and engine oil this thursday. Going to take it for a little trip this weekend after that (about 150 miles or so down to Limburg from where I live near Amsterdam). Next week they're going to check the bike over at Twin Motorcycles in preparation for the bigger holiday to Corsica. Can't wait to stretch its legs some more. |
