I know some of you guys never delve outside of Big, Bad, & Dirty, so I thought I'd share the news. EBR's remaining assets (after Hero made a deal to buy their stuff last week) were sold yesterday to Atlantic Metals Group, LLC. The sale was approved today in court. Story: http://www.jsonline.com/business/erik-buell-racing -assets-sold-to-metals-company-for-225-million-b99 551917z1-320916221.html The principal at Atlantic Metals is a guy named Bruce Belfer, who seems to be a motorcycle enthusiast and Buell fan. He has stated he intends to keep the company going.Lots of discussion about this on the Quickboard. |

Motorcycle.com article this morning: http://blog.motorcycle.com/2015/08/07/industry-new s/new-owners-erik-buell-racing/ Here's what Erik had to say about it:
quote:Reached via text this afternoon, Erik Buell said he is working with the new owner on “how to roll out the story.” Pressed for details, Buell said, “He’ll tell his story his way and in his time schedule. As it should be.” He’s a bike guy, though? “Yes,” texts Buell.

Hugh, Thanks for the news. I wonder what EBR will look like a year from now. Hopefully a motorcycle producing company that'll reignite our hopes for an AX. |

Meet the new owner. This was posted to EBR's Facebook page this morning:
quote:To address any confusion, Atlantic Metals division of BGI is a manufacturer of fabricated metal equipment in the architectural, electrical and lighting businesses. We are not in the scrap metal business. We make things. We make them here in Jersey, in the USA, with American engineers, American ingenuity, and American skilled labor. Been at it for over 30 years. We know how. EBR is intact and in good hands. Thanks for keeping the faith! More to come. Time to get to work...

Sounds like he wants to start EBR right back up with Erik as pres.and Bruce as CEO. If Atlantic Metals is a manufacturing company maybe they could make many of the parts and keep the bike prices low. (Message edited by mnrider on August 07, 2015) |

Bruce Belfer seems like he has the background to make EBR a great motorcycle manufacturer. He'll keep Erik on the right path. Hopefully all the dealers will stick with the program and continue to sell EBR bikes. Probably a very good time for those who wanted and RX or SX to grab a great bike for a discounted price. At least for now you'll know that parts will soon be available again from EBR/Atlantic Metals Group LLC. |

SX for $9400 with free shipping. 250 miles on it. http://www.cycletrader.com/dealers/San-Diego-BMW-M otorcycles-2887654/listing/2014-ERIK-BUELL-RACING- 1190SX-114532351 If the new EBR/Metals could sell those for 10 grand or thereabouts, they'd certainly attract more customers at that price point. |
