It's one of the three and I'm still trying to make sense of what happened. I know these charging issues have been gone over time after time but here my story goes. Ricks stator Twin motorcycles oil jet rotor HD VR After everything was installed by HD I brought it back and ran it with the stock ECM. Battery voltage wasn't anything crazy like 14.* but it stayed above 13 while riding and 12 at idle. Okay fine. Get home today and put the EBR race ECM in for my Remus exhaust and take it out for a 30 mile ride. Midway through, at a light the voltage drops to 11.9 and the check engine light comes on with the battery light. I think to myself "oh s$&!" And turn around thus concluding my outting. Voltage dropped down to 11.6 at a stop light so I shut it off and play the waiting game with the red light before I fire it up. Get it home and check the error codes, nothing but system voltage. |

Do you still have the so called Harley fix? If so take it out. I use the CE605SB regulator and haven't had a charging problem since. |

Bike was bought used, I'll search the forums for how to check for the Harley fix. Do you think it's regulator related problem? |

The fix was a relay that shut off one phase of the stator to make it run cooler. The relay has a tendency to fail. If you have the oiling rotor there is no need for it. If you have a manual go through the steps to check the stator. If you have a good stator and you don't have Harley fix, then I would look at the regulator. Many of us have gone away from the stock shunt style regulator as it is inefficient and generates heat. Rick's has a regulator that will fit in the stock location. The CE605SB needs to be in the airflow. Here is a link for the un-fix. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBYEYGJfyBw And here is what I did.

Shawns, a huge thank you. I unplugged the fix rerouted the wire to the the old connection and I just went on the same 30 mile ride.. I'm getting 14.0 at idle with both fans on. You saved me a ton of headache and money. Thanks again! |

No problem. That's what we are here for. We all love our quirky bikes, and the combined knowledge on here can't be beat. The dealer should have removed that when they replaced the rotor, stator and VR. |
