I have a 2002 buell blast with a little under 775 total miles on it i recently purchased. Im having three major issues. First is the carb cough. Its crippling at idle and on a cold start the bike will not idle high enough no matter the setting on the idle screw. If you take it out for a ride its fine but after three minutes or so the bike then idles well over 2000 rpm and if you then back off the idle screw to an acceptable idle it will start to cough and if you leave it at normal idle it will eventually die. Bear in mind i have reset the idle-air screw and replaced the carb boot. Twice. Please help cause im running out of ideas the bike was completely stock before i got it and was ridden 400 miles last season by the previous owner without issues |

Sounds like the idle jet is clogged. A thorough cleaning, fresh carb gaskets and new CV slide should do the trick. While at it, put fresh fuel in tank, do the normal stuff and change spark plug, oil and transmission fluid. Check and or replace air filter. I have seen more then one mouse nest in the air filter housing. Between Youtube, Google and BWB, you should be able to do just about anything you set your mind to. |
