today i was tooling around town, the bike started sputtering at 300rpms, and I got a steady CEL. there are eleven different blink codes in the ecm. 37,38,36,11,13,15,33,44,21,22,34. its a new ebr ecm, I have put about 400 miles on it with no other problems. What will cause so many codes all at once?> |

quote:its a new ebr ecm,
As part of the flashing process, the ECM is shipped to you with a bunch of false positive historical codes. (The ECM is flashed not attached to a real bike, so it says "Hey, where the hell are my sensors/pumps/etc!") The codes will clear themselves out after 50 starts. You can clear them out yourself with TunerPro, but that is a bit of a pain to do, I'd keep riding the bike and see if the issue comes back. |

can the HD dealer clear the codes on the EBR ecm? Ive heard that ecmspy will goof the ebr programming, Will any other programs mess it up as well? |

With the old ECMSpy you could: Monitor all sensors real-time Clear historic codes You could NOT access the proper memory locations to change fuel or spark maps tho as BMC/H-D changed memory block allocation with each new ECM flash. Dave @ made a translation program that worked very well but too much BS from the makers of ECMSpy and H-D led him to abandon the quest. One of the larger reasons being, with each new map(every 3-5 months) he had to re-write the decoder. Oooohh... dave was at o h i o sp o r tb ike.... Z |

ok, i have ran a bunch of run cycles and now have just 3 codes. after the bike warms up, it starts to run rough for a little bit, then clears up when the CEL comes on. I have 3 codes.33 21 37. 33 is a fuel system error, what can that one be? My bike is a '10 model with the newer style fuel pump. I need to buy the electrical diag manual. |

You can find PDF's for some of the manuals on line. Of course, it would be wrong to download such a thing.

The bike symptoms really dont match a bad fuel pump, the bike runs normally, then sputters for 20 seconds after its warmed up, then the light comes on and then it runs just fine. sounds more like a sensor issue to me? I dunno |

You should not have any trouble/fear of monitoring or clearing codes with ECMSpy. As long as you are not trying to overwrite any of the software, like with changing timing or fuel maps. I've had no trouble, but I also was using the official VDSTS until recently getting ECMSpy. Since I DO want to be able to modify maps, I bought a used stock ECM off eBay, and plan to upload the EBR maps to that and see if that works. I was able to upload the maps from the EBR ECM using ECMSpy without trouble, once I got a proper cable (Amazon $35). The VDSTS cable won't work for ECMSpy on my PC. My project has been slowed by me getting another bike, so the Buell is now my backup plan. |
