I'm having a little trouble confirming what the ohm rating is of the single fire coil used on my 02 X1. Anyone have the figure off the top of their head? | ||

No, sorry, but it should be very small. A few ohms. | ||

OK, thanks. I ask because I have come across .5, 3 and 5 ohm coil info. I spoke to a fellow and Dynatek and he suggested the .5 ohm coils. I just needed confirm that this is correct somehow. | ||

Yeah less than an Ohm. Remember that the coils are actually a pair of coils in one box | ||

...and that a "coil" is actually a transformer, which is composed of two inductors, electrically isolated, but interfering with each other magnetically. Each of these inductors is essentially a piece of coiled up wire. It's going to look pretty much like a dead short to an ohmmeter. | ||

Thanks guys. I'm on the right track. The two dynatek coils I picked up are .5 ohm so I'm in good shape. Needed two dual terminal coils for my dual plug heads. (Message edited by kalsc on April 30, 2015) |
