I don't know, it wasn't as bad as half the crap I see on Facebook, at least everything appears to be spelled correctly and you can clearly understand what he wants. I don't have a spare cover, I can't help you there. I just checked American Sport Bike, it is $370 there so the ebay one is likely a better option http://americansportbike.com/newdir/Item/17531 Why do you need a new cover? If it is because of the issue with the clutch lip, that can be repaired. If you are replacing crash damage, I hope that at least you made it out unscathed. |

If its for the repair I can help you out with that, I just did a repair on my primary, I can make a plate for you or you can send it to me and I'll take care of it for you. PM me if interested. Either way good luck finding the thing they are a PITA to get a decent deal on |

Its in need of replacement due to the clutch inspection door holes. Buellster sent me the old gasket for it and I have only had the bike for a week or so, so I didn't know the gasket was incorrect and when installing the top bolt the threads were stripped. I bought 50 bucks worth of helicoils and got the drill bit marked. Figured I'd do the last two holes(one already had a helicoil) and started drilling and for some damned reason be it impatience or stupidity I punched through on the lower hole and I hadn't realized when I did it but the top hole as well. I know it could prolly be welded or filled then re drilled and tapped but I don't want to worry about sending it out and getting it back to have any slight leaks. I just figured replace and learn, next time I'm using a torque wrench. Plus mine was rubbed smooth from jeans and has some decent marks from last owner. Sorry about punctuation typing from phone is different from computer and that's the story of the human race everything gets shortened to text u instead of you and so on. But I'm not an English teacher or professor so who cares. |

Over on buell xb forum a couple guys tried and had some decent pricing but they were for newer models. Guy there goes by Paulpud has Two 03 bikes coming in a week or so and he said they have covers if they are in good shape I'll jump on one of them otherwise I'm still hoping for more offers just in case. |

Paul is a good dude I've bought a bunch of parts off of him you can't normally beat his prices I find(albeit I haven't bought too much for this bike) |

Paul is on here too, I bought some wheels off him a while back, I went and picked them up in person. He is a great guy, I just wish he wasn't ripping apart bikes! At least most of them are salvage bikes |

Seems down to earth with pricing from what I heard already as long as they look good I'll be a buyer for certain. Don't get me wrong 310 shipped isn't a bad deal for brand new with every gasket and new inspection covers but its still a lot of money and american sport bike wants 150 more for this year than the newer ones. As I said on the other forum the bushing that is different on the covers must be madebof gold or platinum on the early years cause that's the only difference between the covers. Hell even the part numbers are identical. |

I think the difference between early and later is the shift shaft hole size and seal. Pretty sure it happened in '06. Kevin |

Year that's what I said its just a bushing that goes into the hole otherwise same size just crazy to think a bushing causing that type of price difference is crazy which is also why I said must be made of platinum or adamantium like wolverine |

How do you bush "up" a hole. Later version has a larger shift shaft and a larger diameter hole. If that's the case use an early bushing in the later cover. Sportster parts. But, I'm Pretty sure there are two part numbers on the ones I have here. I use the early versions on the Blast to get a better chain adjustment. They show up on eBay pretty often. Kevin |

Year that's what i didn't want to try and do tho. My task was supposed to be helicoils and I screwed that up I really don't want to order the wrong cover bushing that I'm unsure would work and break something pressing the bushing in then I'm out more money. I just need to get the right year cover is all. And I'm not sure I follow your posts how do you bush up a hole? Both covers are identical same part numbers same cover down to the threads. The difference is the shift shaft hole. Its still the same exact size hole on both just the bushing is a different thickness one being brass or copper the other being not brass or copper. Its easier for them to manufacture the same exact part and press in a thicker bushing. No part number changes just a bushing the size of a nickel. |
