Hello Everybody! I am new to this forum (registered yesterday) and I am a new member of the Buell family I just bought 1125R, my dream bike. I have checked archived threads and ongoing discussions and I could not find the answer to my bothering guestion. What size of tire do you suggest for the stock 5.5in rear rim? I know the stock is 180/55/17 but I heard opinions that wider tire stick to the surface better in the deep angle on twisties. I am going to buy Pilot Power 3. Thank you very much for help. Sorry for my English - I am not native. I am from Poland. |

The 180 is best for that 5.5" rim. If you want to run a 190, you need a 6" rim. You can mount a 190 on a 5,5" rim, but you can easily see that the profile is not uniform. There have been several threads on the subject here and you always have those that know more than the manufacturers. Try it yourself. The naked eye can easily spot the problem. |

Agreed--definitely use a 180. I've had traction problems by going one size larger than what's correct for a given wheel size--I ran a 180 on a 5" wheel and got rewarded with a nice back-end slide at the track. Pulled back into the pits and switched it out for a 160/60. |

Bartosz - Jak sie masz? Polish from Pop's side... they came here in the early 1800s. My grandma taught me some words and phrases... Most all 180s fit the wheel well. Danny ran 190s on his DSB bike; pretty sure same size rims. There was one brand of 190 that ran well but I can't remember whose. Welcome to the zoo Zack |
