I have a 2008 1125r and have several electrical issues. My fuel light comes on radomly even after I fill up (totally unreliable), engine light comes on randomly as well (most times unrelated to issues, just comes on then miles later goes away) I have had high beam issues of them not working but cannot find what's causing it and is inconsistant, I have to keep replacing relays (starter and ignition) as every month or less replacing them is only thing keeping my bike running, and worst of all the bikes instrument cluster will turn off and guages will die then bike cuts off and relays need to be replaced.
I have (after knowledgeable vehicle electrician's reccommendations) replaced the regulator\ rectifier to a well-researched "moffset" one, and still have all above issues.

To top it off I have taken the bike to harley 3 times now for these issues, (they have checked everything they know) and have swapped the battery out 3 times and are now telling me I need the EBR ecm, as "mine is the overall issue."
Problem is EBR is now out of business....again.

My bike is almost so unreliable and I cannot ride it for even short trips and I may have to just let it go. I love my 1125 and I'm trying to avoid this without continuing to just throw money at the problem.

If you can flash the ecm, great! But I am using a stock GSXR exhaust now as all other pipes I've tried are way too loud, ie: barkers, Dean adams, hmf, and another chinese manufacturer. (Stock exhaust is too quiet and, let's face it, the thing is very ugly.
I understand if the tune won't be perfect but if the bike was reliable, I'd be happy.

Please please please help!

Given the really breathtaking scope of the electrical issues, I would do the following:

1. Starting at whichever end of the machine is most convenient, take EVERY ground you come to apart, clean both surfaces, and reassemble, and make sure the fastener is tight. A tiny bit of dielectric grease (some auto parts guys know it as 'bulb' grease)won't hurt. Don't forget the voltage regulator ground.

2. During the ground point inspect/repair, check every connector you come to, and make sure the connectors are firmly connected and each wire in the connector is properly seated.

Then, if no change, it MIGHT be time to consider the ECM. BTW, it might do to remove the connectors to the ECM, inspect for damage and corrosion, light dielectric, and reassemble.

Hope this helps, Dave

Inconsistent or unreliable ground (see loose or dirty) will cause all sorts of problems or if you like the word issues. Proper Grounding is the most important electrical thing you can do to prevent electrical problems or failures.
