Hi Guys I'm getting ready to set up my X1M as my daily ride and the original gas cap is a pain in the..... and I have seen the thread with the gas cap repair. I'm looking at 2 options I saw a repair thing on e-bay that looks pretty simple to do for 50.00 or try a non-lock cap from a buell blast. Have any of you tried one or both or can someone help me with the fix? |

Thanks Harleyelf looks like the gas cap fix on e-bay is the way to go its either the same key or no key for me on the gas cap, and for 2 years I've been prying at it during fill ups which was a total pain in the a.... still wondering if anyone has used the non-locking Buell blast cap on their X1 |

Blast cap will work fine and the the locking caps aren't keyed to specific keys. You just need a barrel type key to get it open. |

There are four screws holding it together: be sure they are torqued properly and the two pieces are clocked properly. The long axis of the oval hole on the smaller piece should be pointing toward the two big ears. Your existing lock nut should work fine, but if it is loose you might want to drill and safety wire it in position. Remember this is going into an environment of fumes and loc-tite will not work. Better late than never, but....I've used Blast caps on a number of tubers with zero issues, other than the typeface in the "Buell" engraving not matching the bike |

Thanks for all the info I got the gas cap fix in the mail last week and its beautiful! I haven't put it on yet waiting for a 50 degree day to go out in the garage. I'll make sure everything is tight |

Bring the cap inside and do it on the kitchen counter. Ten minute job. |
