Got myself an '06 Uly with HB bags! Should be a lot more comfortable commuter than my hot rod S2 project . Definitely gonna get an XT seat as it's too tall for me at the moment (can ride it but can't move it while on the bike). Any other must-do mods? |

Kuryakyn voltmeter. High beam mod. Make sure you have blocks at the ECM to protect the connectors. Check the wheelbearings. Get a spare belt and keep it in the bags. I've got Buell heated grips on mine, aux driving lights, 1125CR mirrors with turn signals, and a Stebel air horn. Ride it for a bit - you'll see how little it actually needs |

Thanks Joe . I actually have a 3 bearing rear wheel on it, spare rear wheel, spare belt, talller windshield, etc. Definitely will look at adding a Voltmeter. I added one to my S2 and it has been extremely handy. |

Put some 07 fork springs in that baby. It makes a night and day difference. Much less front end dive on braking / corners and more compliant everywhere else. |

Does your bike have the "comfort kit"? It consists of a right side air scoop (stock only has left side), a duct piece that fit over the top of the shock (under the seat), and a heat shield for the rear header pipe (optional). this kit helps with engine cooling and diverting heat away from the rider. |

Comfort kit is on the "to do" list, don't have one yet. Same with heated grips. |

Check the grounding points under the seat and at the steering neck, behind the fairing. The powder coating should be sanded off for a better connection and coated with an electrical connection anti corrosion compound or dielectric grease. I changed my throttle body shaft, which could break, with one from Tootal. I also pulled my fuel pump and found the wires abraded. Check out the new Uly owners section. Definitely carry a spare belt. I have not checked the wiring at the forks yet that is prone to breaking because of a splice right where the wires flex. Its on my list. I also bought the Memphis Shades lowers which I have to install yet. A lot of people say that they stop the wind buffeting around the helmet. Good luck with the bike and ride safe. |

Good call on the 07 springs, forgot that one. I did it so long ago I didn't remember! Talking a file to the factory pegs (to put some edge on the cleats) works as well as new pegs...and its free. And do the "safety lock" bypass on the triple tail, too. |

One more thing that is cheap and essential is to replace the wiring harness guide / guard (plastic part) at the left side of the head tube. I can't remember what Buell calls it. The 06 guide causes a sharp bend in the wire harness which increases wear. The 07 part is much improved. |

I've gone the opposite direction. My bike had the tall windshield with an added curved section. (forget the name of that thing, it's velcro'ed in place..) I went back to the stock low windscreen and that's about right for me, not much wind protection but the air around my helmet is clean and quiet. My wife on the other hand says the air around her helmet is cleaner with the tall windshield installed. I have an tall windshield kit in the box, might cut it to halfway between tall and standard and see how that works. |

If it hasn't been done yet the 5mm front rotor really helped mine. It pulsed bad. There are a couple of triple splice wire crimps in that wire bundle at the steering head. If you go ahead and do the wire fix, moving the triple splices up behind the fly screen you won't need the new wire clamp. You will likely never find one, but a Bazootie is a nice piece. Crusty made them. It holds the clutch cable back so that you can see over it for a clear view of the gages. Comfort kit++++. I like the dirt bike ride of long soft suspension so the front springs are fine stock for me. |

A zip tie makes a fine bazootie. I will never use lyndall golds again. One spirited 2-up ride in the twisties, things were fine one turn after another, then all of a sudden...ZERO brakes. No fade, no chatter, no warning, just..."pucker up, buttercup!!". Cooled em off whilst cleaning my shorts, rode home gently (they started working again once cooled off), threw em in the trash and went back to stock pads. Never had another issue. I do very much like my ztl-2 with 5mm disc now, an upgrade last season. Very nice to have, especially after getting used to the -2 on my 1125. |

That happened to me too Rat, but on the track. Just like that, ran out of brakes at a not-so-favorable moment with the Lyndalls and laid down the bike in a trap as a result... Lesson learned, EBC race pads for track use, still using the Lyndalls for regular street use. Not riding much with passenger though, so even during a sporty ride on the road I haven't generated enough heat to trigger the same. I'd definitely add a breather re-route + katch can to the above mods list |

I never had an issue. I guess I don't ride it right. |

I never had a problem with the Lindall Gold pads either.....but then I don't recall using brakes much. They are over rated. From what I am seeing people who use them expectthem to work every time! |

I had a couple of moments in the mountains trying to keep sight of fast locals on Harleys and WeeStroms when the lyndall golds faded significantly, but not to the point where they wouldn't work, just to the point where I had to squeeze a lot more than normal. Worth noting for two up hard riding I suppose (and I rarely do either, and never do both). |

Jeremy, it seems my bike already has the Fatty Meter Mod,I just didn't realize that's what it was. I still have to check the wiring pinch points, but I'll do that soon. In other news, I love the look of the CityX translucent pieces, so I picked up a Hero Blue air box cover with the X intact, mainly because I found a matching translucent Hero Blue flyscreen on eBay. I would have preferred the Cherry Bomb Red, but I didn't want to pay almost $300 after shipping for just the air box cover, and be left in the cold trying to match a flyscreen. I also found out I got a spare NOS Journey side case (now for sale in the classifieds) with the bike, and I found a Buell tank bag in the right saddlebag (never had a reason to open it before, so never saw it). It's not the deluxe but the one just under the deluxe. Its in great shape, but it didn't include the strap(s) to mount it to the bike . |

The absolute best modification you can make is to fill the fuel tank and point your headlights toward the horizon. It's a mod that requires constant repetition, but it's worth it. |

I agree Crusty! Oh one more thing, I found out the headlights have been nodded as well so that both come on with the high beams . |
