I live in the Keys. I am a dive instructor. I need to do the valve adjustment/12k mile service. Anyone near by that would not mind helping me? Thanks, Nick |

Fly me down from MD (4-6" tonight, another 2-3" tomorrow, 2-3" more tomorrow night), feed me margaritas, and I should be able to get you squared away in...oh...7-10 days, max. It's been entirely too long since I visited the Keys... |

I'm hoping you can't keep up with the margaritas otherwise this will get expensive! But if someone needs a place to stay for a few nights on the ride down/up let me know. I'm more of a rum, irish whiskey, and good beer guy. The wife hates tequila, I do like me some jalepeņo margaritas, tho! It's been COLD here the last few days, down in the high 50's low 60's at night and tomorrow only a high of 68°!!! I'm going to freeze to death teaching this dive class tomorrow. But anyways, The only place I know of to take it would be uniqueSBK in Miami. The problem being that they have an 1190sx demo bike there screaming my name... |

Waah. 24 here now, and still snowing. Yes, I can keep up on the 'ritas...but it's a food group down there, isn't it? lol...and you'll save $ on that compared to my singlemalt ta$tes If you're thinking about an SX, do yourself a favor. Tell yourself (think of it as a mantra) "this is not a bike for flat/straight roads...this bike deserves twisty mountain roads...this is NOT a bike for flat/straight roads...this bike deserves twisty mountain roads..." Maybe that will help. Honestly? The lack of decent "motorcycle roads" is one of the (VERY) few things that kept me from saying screw the world, and moving to the Keys a few years ago when the bottom fell out of my life. But I still like to visit. I should get your info, for the next time I'm down. Single malt's on me |

I do love single malt scotch! If you're ever coming down let me know. |

i'd come just for the diving! i haven't gone since i got my open water cert in isla mujeres a couple years ago. id tell you to go to gainesville hd and buell. they are good people, and some personal friends of mine work there. i did too for 4 months when we were slow here at my shop one winter. but its a ways from you...! as for the 1190sx. if your having trouble with valve adjustments now, it needs more... and yes, i rode both the sx and the rx in the north carolina mountains last summer. fun bikes. i preferred the rx more then a little over the sx. i had previously already told Jenn that i wasnt buying an 1190 anytime soon. after riding them she asked me if my opinion changed when i was talking about how i could carry the wheel out of a corner while still leaned over so easily. she was surprised when i still said no... for the riding i get to do most the time, it doesnt really do anything ENOUGH better then my 1125. more power, yes, but higher up in the rpms... lighter and shade better flickability... yes. but im in central iowa. my roads are mostly straight and flat. i can already wheelie for miles so the 1190 wont do it better... although i did say, that if i lived in the mountains i may reconsider that position. but i would actually get to make use of the bike more. |

"as for the 1190sx. if your having trouble with valve adjustments now, it needs more..." However, the RX and SX do not require rotating the engine for this procedure, which cuts down on the servicing time in comparison. }} |

No_rice thank you for that, it makes sense to me. Being in Florida the only curves we have near me are on the track in Homestead, which I haven't even ridden. As for the valve adjustments, I want to do them myself. I just don't have a garage, so it would be done outside and it's rather dusty/windy around here most the time. |

Living room? Or is there one of those "wife" things in the way? |

Haha I used to be able to keep the bike indoors, but now I am in a trailer, so getting it inside wouldn't be too easy. Also my fish and corals would get scared if they had to share the living room with the Buell. Oh and that thing they call "wife"... |

If you really want to do it yourself...go rent a cargo van and build a ramp. One day should do it. Presumably things are going better for you than they were for me, but when I got rid of that "wife" person, I bought a house with nearly 4000 square feet...of GARAGE. Just sayin'. |

Haha I wish I had any garage. I think I'm going to rent a climate controlled (read a/c) storage unit and do the whole thing inside. I think it will be less stressful than having to get it done in a little van, although that is a good idea. |
