Hello, A friend did a tps reset, and where he starts the bike if he doesent rev it, the bike goes don to 800 revs and dies, when it's Hot it holding sable 1050-1100 revs, any hint who this is happening? When the afv is below 100 is it lean or Rich? Thanks. |

AFV reading below 100% means too rich, the ECM is removing fuel. What year is the Ulysses? Did he clean the throttle plate? Was the engine warm when TPS was reset? |

Throttle plate = butterfly valve = throttle valve 160c should have been warm enough. Only other thing that comes to mind is whether or not the throttle plate was fully closed when tps was reset. |

And by fully closed, I'd specifically ask if the idle was FULLY backed off until no change in voltage was seen, and that they turned the throttle lightly in the closed throttle direction to make sure it was fully seated closed. |

After the reading was 0,0 he back end of one more turn and he reset it, his afv is around 105. |

Did he happen to note what his idle TPS voltage was before the reset, versus what he set the idle at after doing the reset? Just wondering if he ended up at a very different value (implying that the reset was BADLY needed, or perhaps for some reason not done right). I assume he has already checked for a sticking throttle cable due to cable routing or maybe grips rubbing against handguards or something simple? |

He installed a sebring exhaust and a k&n air filtre so he needed to put race maps. Thanks. |

So this problem started after flashing some maps? Was a race Eprom flashed to a standard (non race) ECM? If so, there's the problem. A race Eprom will not work in a standard ECM. Fuel or ignition race maps can be flashed to a standard ECM, not the full Eprom. I have done both on my '06 Ulysses and could not "feel" (by seat of the pants) any difference. |
