My new to me X1 needs tires... I've got Pilot Power 2CT's on my Firebolt, and I love them http://motorcycle.michelinman.com/tires/michelin-p ilot-power-2ct and I am want to poke around and look at other options before blindly punching a buy button... I'm seeking a more aggressive tread for random / crap roads (street, not offroad), as the X1 [w/ race kit] has got quite a bit of power up on my 9R. I WANT the Anakee III's, but they don't have a fit for the front http://motorcycle.michelinman.com/tires/michelin-a nakee-iii#desc I've pretty much made up my mind to go with the ContiTrailAttack 2's. I looked around on here and only really found a few opinions from the Uly sub. Good opinions, but mostly that they planned on getting them but no after ride reports that I could find. Other google'ing finds them to be held in good favor. http://www.conti-online.com/www/motorcycle_de_en/t hemes/motorcycletires/enduro/trailattack_2_en.html Anyway, that said - I'm sure that any of these tires are well beyond my riding style / habits and wanted to know if there's any reasons any of you might have for me _not_ getting the Conti's. Thanks in advance! |

I got the original Conti Trail Attacks on eBay for $200 for the pair and I love them. I have over 6,000 miles on them now, probably get another 1,000-2,000 out of the rear. And by no means do I ride conservative... |

I've had good luck with the Dunlop Sportmax Q2s on my M2 and wife's ninja. Plan on going with the newer Q3s on the rear of both later this year, as supposed to get a few more miles out of the center with a new compound. Cyclegear usually runs these on sale twice a year (spring/fall) for $199/set. |

I had Pilots, & they were very good, but seemed to go off as they got older , like race tires. replace with Bridgstone Battle Ax they were better duel compound soft sticky sides the sides stuck on corners & in wet would look like race slick on the sides after a long ride. just got a new rear, bike tire service i went to in a rural town in Australia only had Dunlop Sportsmax rear only just fitted still got bridgtone on front, Dunlops feel ok but have not ridden far yet only a day run with friends so will wait till i do more miles but so far feel good, but Bridstone had to beat. |

I had the Conti attacks on my S3 and absolutely loved them (Road Attack2 Hyper Sport touring front, Road Attack Mileage rear). I did not love the 4000 mile life though. I commute ~70 miles round trip almost every day on that bike and half the commute is through the mountain twisties. I used almost every inch of tread up the sidewalls and not once felt that I was going to break loose. I replaced those tires with the new Pilot Road 4 GT's with the stiff walls and have put 4k on the bike with little noticeable wear. They do not stick well and at times I feel some slipping in the corners, especially at the front. I have had to dial back the way I ride through the mountains (which may be a good thing). I have had a few butt pucker moments with these tires going hard into corners. |
