Found this in the newsletter from rockautoparts http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=12 61489&cc=1438188 Is anyone already using this? It could be a good/cheap solution for those that have problems with stripping the oil hole thread in the swingarm or primary. | ||

Neat idea and It is a solution to the drain plug thread-stripping issue, but it has its own drawbacks. I wonder if a zip tie around that collar would be a good idea to keep the cap from vibrating/popping off at the worst possible time. Or just lock wiring the sucker tight. Over all, I think I like it! Drawbacks that can be negated with a zip tie are better than drawbacks that require an expensive threadsert/helicoil toolset to recover from | ||

I could never trust that enough. I've thought of valves before but threads and safety wire keep my mind off of a rear wheel covered in hot oil as well as an engine losing it's oil supply. | ||

My buddy's Vincent has a similar fitting in the oil tank for the oil pump feed. The pipe can be disconnected there without having to drain the tank first. | ||

I assume that with this you loose the magnet that collects all of the steel particles. I always like to take a good look at what's collected on the magnet. It might give you a clue that things are going wrong before things get really bad. |
