i just got the ceramic header from American Sport Bike and i want to go install it. i thought i remembered someone talking about being able to take the rear spring and fan off which makes is possible to get to that top bolt on the rear cylinder. is that so or am i stuck rotating the motor? i would rather not rotate but i will if i must. thanks in advance, brandon |

I think rotating the engine would be easier than removing the spring and fan... It sounds pretty daunting, but it really isn't that bad. Do a search for "Force install finished" and there's a post where I outline what is and isn't really needed... |

True -- rotating the motor isn't that bad at all. I did it by the book and it turned out to be much easier than I had originally imagined. No biggie at all. Couple of tips -- before you jump into this swap, make sure you have a tube of copper anti-sieze (make sure it says sensor safe). Also, you don't need any special o2 sensor socket -- just leave the sensor mounted to the header and remove it with the header. Swap it out using a regular box end wrench (or a hydraulic line wrench), but not an open-end of Crescent wrench. On another note, I chose not to re-use the original flange nuts. I didn't feel comfortable with their somewhat light torque spec and rthe potential for them to come loose. I bought four 5/16-24 locknuts -- NOT Nylocs (with the nylon insert), but the type that are slightly crimped on three sides so they squeeze the stud. I actually found that getting the new exhaust seals installed was harder then rotating the engine down. Just make sure you have everything you need before you start and it'll go smooth. Steve. |

i removed the shock and fan and loosened the v frame in the front of the motor to swing it out of the way to remove my headers used boxed end and open end to loosen pipe and o2 sensor(and my 6 year old son to get his fingers in there to remove the nuts once i got them loose) didnt have to unhook any lines(fuel, oil etc) didnt need to rotate motor(wasnt looking forward to it) |

well i just finished the install. i rotated and got the header off and the new one went on very smooth. thanks for all the tips and ill post some pics tommrow if i get around to it. thanks again |
