I got my x1 engine for my m2 pulled engine myself. When I removed the oil lines from the reservior the ends cracked a little. Can I replace the oil lines to the oil pump without removing the side case for the cam gears ? |

Pump stays in place. Use a pair of pliers in a twisting motion to pop the hose clamps loose, unless there is a specialty clamp plier I don't know about for those. (Which I'm sure there is) Cut the zip ties holding the hoses together underneath, and try yanking them individually from either side. I've done this job 3 times, every time it takes less than an hour. I've slummed it out and used standard hose clamps putting it back together. I might boot the few bucks and buy some SS clamps for it. I would also purposely cut the replacement lines long, install, and then snip to size. the stock clamps and pliers are called oetiker clamps and yes special pliers for installing them...and they have a cutter on the front and side pliers: http://www.amazon.com/Oetiker-14100083-Side-Jaw-fo rmerly-Plastic-Coated/dp/B0037QFNJM/ref=sr_1_4?ie= UTF8&qid=1409056949&sr=8-4&keywords=oetiker+clamps and search for the right size clamps for oil lines. or, just use a worm gear clamp, problem is...work gear clamps can come loose under high vibration, another option is a product made by gates for fluid lines on diesel applicaitons, they are heat shrink compression fittings, just like standard heat shrink tubing for wire, however these are oil and fluid line clamps. never used them for oil lines but my '77 vette with a "worked over" motor has them on the coolant lines at the tank and I have never had a leak. this is just an example, not the actual correct size: http://www.amazon.com/Gates-32941-PowerGrip-Hose-C lamp/dp/B000CRDL7K/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=14090573 48&sr=8-3&keywords=gates+1%2F4+inch+powergrip+hose +clamp |

The line is available by the foot at any auto parts store and when putting back on you can use hose clamps if you do not want to get the pliers its an easy job |

I was WAY off. Apparently, going by the ID of the hose is wrong. I don't know what I was thinking. Can anyone pinpoint the size? There are a bunch of numbers to choose from, I don't want to waste another 15 bucks. |

Just bring a piece of the old one with to the auto parts store should not even cost 10 i think it is under a buck per ft at advanced auto. I have some left at home i will look at the size |

I broke my dial caliper and have no way to measure. I guess I will buy another tomorrow and measure. |

I threw the package away with the part number but I measured the inside of the clamps I ordered and they are 0.660 id. I ordered them from Mcmaster (Message edited by purpony on September 16, 2014) |

I went with the bigger of the 2 choices. I'll try them on in the morning and take some pics. FYI the 1st clamps I got fit the fuel vent perfectly haha. I might use them on vacuum and carb overflow lines on my hd. |

I must have Aspergers. Concerning my questions, I was talking about the Oetiker clamps, sorry for the confusion. I used automatic transmission rubber hose, it is rated for the temps and pressures it will see. I bought 8 feet, and think 6 would be plenty next time. Like I said, I'll take some pics of the clamp fitting and what size it is. I will also add this info to the knowledge vault. Total investment in hose, clamps, and pliers: 60 bucks. 10 years of leak free pleasure: priceless. We won't get into all the other leaks. Just these haha |
