One second traveling 25 mph through an intersection, Next I'm standing on the side of the road talking to paramedics and a policeman. Last thing I remember is seeing the car that was stopped to make a left hand turn just gun it. He caught the back of the bike.

Fractured skull, slight brain trauma, and 9 staples to close the top/right of the head. Fractured shoulder blade, deep road rash on both arms, knees, light road rash on shoulder and temple. Bike was totaled.

Anyways, here's the listing for the stuff that wasn't on the bike when I got plowed.

Just the fact that you were able to write about your mishap is a very good sign that you'll be 100% before you know it. Stupid ass that clobbered you will have karma catch up to them for sure. Is there an AX in your future or another ULY?

Just remembered how just last week a freaking blue hair pulled out of a side street on me and pretended that she did nothing wrong. Her window was open and I'm pretty darned sure she heard me screaming at her that she was a female dog. She could hardly see over her steering wheel. Ever vigilant is the word.

It happened at the end of July, pretty much back to normal, some cool scars, still some headaches occasionally. Hair hasn't come back yet.

26 yr kid, he told the cop he seen me he was just in a hurry and just misjudged. he got an $80 dollar fine and some higher premiums. I had no time to react.

I'm waiting on the AX but the wife and daughter have banned me from riding.

To live to tell about it is what its all about...what kind of gear did you have on and what damage did it take? Glad you're still with us. Every time i ride i try to look at each and every car..truck ...bike and animal/pedestrian as someone who wants to kill me...and have had great success with that..but its like you said...There are times when you just have no time to react. Sobering.

I am sorry to see you involved in a wreck that killed your Uly and that you got injured. Glad to hear you are healing well.

I have to ask.....not to be nanny state kind of guy.....but what kind of gear were you wearing that allowed that kind of injury list at 25 mph?

Sounds like a Pa. over 21, no helmet law, with no leather or ballistic gear?

I do not mean to offend you or anyone else, but I have been trying to teach my adult eldest son for years, the reasons why I wear riding gear every time I go out.

Motorcycle Glasses - they survived...

Yes, I was the same type of rider but stuff happens. I'm sure there are people who are going to post about the gear, it was my choice, I enjoyed the freedom. I'm extremely lucky but don't regret the many years of pleasure I was able to enjoy riding.

Thanks for all the well wishes.

Sorry to hear it, but I sure am glad you made it through that.

So the one thing I am not clear on: are you waiting on the AX, or are you banned from riding?

You'll eventually get beyond the fear caused by the accident. Would you stop driving a car if you had equal injuries whilst driving a car? Give it a while and then get back in the saddle. What's your wife giving up?

I wouldn't have a problem getting back on a motorcycle, the fear would start when the wife or daughter found out....

I actually have more concern riding the bicycle as I've had many more close calls of getting hit while riding that then the motorcycle.

I was waiting on the AX prior to the accident, and yes I am banned from riding. I can still look and dream though....lol

Well the idea is for the wife to keep giving it up....!

Etennuly - No offense taken, I can provide some gruesome pictures if it will help your cause. And I can describe in detail the pain when you have 4 people scrubbing the gravel out from your flesh while having a staple gun impaling your head.

Thank you for responding about the gear.

I don't need the pictures thanks. I was there as a kid on a gravel/dirt road long fast down hill on a banana bike(well I was on the bike for a while). No shoes, no shirt, cut-off jeans heading for the swimming hole. If I'd had goggles I probably would not have crashed. A bug in the eye at about 30 mph is distracting.

Just some things that were done as a kid you never forget.

Ya think she'd let you ride again geared up?

I doubt it, the gear is no guarantee. We were at a store about a month after the accident and the clerk told us he just found out a buddy of his died in a motorcycle accident fully geared, he described basically the same accident I was in with out knowing the details about mine. Just the way he came down broke his neck. She's heard other stories of riders getting hit broadside and losing a leg.

You assume a risk when you step out your door, my feeling is the only full proof way not to get hurt skydiving, is to not get in the plane.

It's a decision everyone has to make. And one you don't really understand until somebody does something impossible to prevent that came within a few inches of killing you.

No judging here. Though I was pretty tempted to ask how much for your 09 on salvage title, and how much of it survived. : )

Nah, I'm not really in a position to buy it, and I already have a salvage title Uly. I'd just rather have a 2009 salvage title uly instead of a 2007 salvage title Uly...

Unless the engine / frame / swingarm were all fairly intact, and the salvage buy back price was something like $1500. Then, even though I'm not in position to buy it, I'd buy it. : )

Sorry to hear bout your wreck. Glad you are getting better. Yeah, gear is a personal choice and it is all about the assumption of risk you take when you throw your leg over the bike.

You can always tell your wife and daughter the accident gave you memory issues and you done remember them telling you not to ride.

My wife rides as well and knows that I will listen to her advice but that she can not control me and I will do what I want in the end.
