I've racked up over 50,000 clicks on my '08 XB12Ss and I've just started noticing a harsh vibration, usually felt as the suspension undulates heavily, as in going over a speed bump at moderate speed. The lowest position of the suspension, where it is most loaded, is where the vibration is most prominent. I'm not really sure what to look for other than the front engine isolator. If I have the bike on the sidestand, I've noticed that there is more space between the isolator bolt and the mount than when the bike's suspension is loaded while upright. Does that indicate a failed mount? I've looked at various tiebars throughout the bike and don't see anything loose. Could it be the primary chain tension being too tight as well? I did recently readjust it! |

Could be isolator, check wheel bearings also. |

How do you really check the isolator? Is it supposed to move around very easily? Like I tried to describe, if the bike's on its sidestand the isolator has a much larger gap between the mount and the bolt than when it's fully upright (off the sidestand). Fully upright it looks like a 1/4" gap. I guess I'll try to take some photos tonight and post up. I just replaced the wheel bearings last season. I also upgraded to the '10 wheel with its 3 oversize bearings. |

I'm hoping somebody else gives a good answer. I always think mine are old and must be shot, then I pull them when I rotate the engine for something else, then I look at them closely and see "well, older rubber, but I don't see anything broken". Then I price the replacement, and I put the old ones back in. Then I start thinking mine are old and must be shot.... |
