A question for those of you who happen to run Distanzias on their Ulys. I know the biggest the rear goes is 160, and people have fit them with little to no troubles. Talking with a friend of mine, he said to watch out because the 160 rear only comes in a supermoto compound, stickier and much less tread life. I found a chart online that kind of implies this (http://www.avon-tyres.co.uk/motorcycle/distanzia), but when shopping at Motorcycle Superstore it isn't mentioned at all, while Revzilla has a separate category for the supermoto tire. Anyone here have any insight into this? |

Um, retail outlets only know what the manufacturer posts. After all, Avon is the one producing their tires and the info they post is the one to believe. Also can be found here: http://www.avontyres.com/motorcycle/distanzia They do seem to say that there is some variation depending which size and the 160 only comes in Super Moto. There is a contact link at the bottom of the page, you can go right to the source and ask. Just don't tell them you want to put them on a Buell. |

Schwiggy, that is correct as far as I know. It was also rated to 130mph, so maybe not the best tire if you are a track day guy. It has been a while, but I believe I got to the wear bars on the rear Distanzia shortly after covering 4000 miles. |

The Distanzias were one of my favorite tires on my "gone, but not forgotten" '06 Uly(s). Yes, the rear was a SM compound, but those tires STUCK LIKE GLUE on the tarmac. And gave you some off-pavement ability also... I actually once dropped a SM bike (poor rider, doubtless) thru some twisties on the Uly with the Distanzias. Even had the side cases mounted... Highly recommended. Note that for me, the rear lasted about 5K miles (and I'm pretty easy on tires). --Doc |

Thanks for the responses guys. Any issues with the plastic hugger or anything? Since its a 60 vs 55? |

No issues with clearance for me. I found it to be pretty tough to set the bead on the rear. I needed to borrow my neighbor's more manly air compressor to get it seated. |
