At every service I've always lubed the clutch cable per the manual. Now that I have the engine apart I've been looking over the parts as I get ready for reassembly. With the clutch cable out in the open if I pull the cable out as far as it will go I can see that the cable itself has a nylon sheath covering it. The lube just seems to collect dust and dry into a crust around the cable. Now I'm thinking maybe I should flush out the cable and leave it dry. Anyone have any thoughts on this? |

The owners manual recommends a special lube that is apparently compatible with the sheathed cable. I haven't used any lube on mine (I believe this was recommended by others on our forum). |

I never lube my cable but I do lube the barrel end at the lever frequently so it will pivot freely. |

"I never lube my cable but I do lube the barrel end at the lever frequently so it will pivot freely." That's funny, I found the same goes for the brake lever. My front brake was hard to pull and seemed to grab suddenly. I polished the contact area and lubed the pivot and all was right with the world after that. |
