I am a first time Blast owner but have had decades of boat and car engine experience. Got the Blast cheap since it had "carb problems". Put the carb back to stock specs, adjusted static timing and have nice fat spark but it will NOT explode the compressed mixture. Compression tests 125 psi and valves open and close as far as I can tell. If I completely remove the carb and spray starting fluid directly in either 1. the intake runner prior to the intake valve or 2. into the spark plug hole I get NO explosion of the mixture. Both coil and coil wire test within ohm specs and I have even tried two different spark plug wires no change. Could the compression be "snuffing" out the spark?? Is the ignition module "bad" even though I can time it and the LED lights as it should? Anyone?? Thanks in advance! |

No "snuffing". Compression is adequate. If you're getting nothing with starting fluid, it's 99% sure you are not getting spark. Try leaving the spark plug in and using the wire on to a known good spark plug grounded against the engine case. Blue consistent spark is good. A Yellow spark is getting "snuffed" in the cylinder. A bad module can still time and show an LED, but perhaps an erratic or non consistent flash. Even if compression, ignition timing and valve timing were off, a good spark would shoot flames out of somewhere with starting fluid! Keep us posted and good luck. |

Took cam cover off, cams were off. Worse than that though, the main bearing for the crankshaft is toast and pieces are in the cam area. I'll start a new thread on path forward for bearing replacement, etc. |

Are you sure the oil pump drive gear isnt toast and the pieces are from that? |

The roller bearing is blue and the rollers look bad. See the new post, the retainer for the bearing came off and is wedged in there. |
