quote:Ellars was a no start, Noonan went 209 but is able to make a return pass, and Aaron Wilsons bike piloted by Tim Horton was a marginal pass but they already had the speed at 188 mph, Bob Moreland went 129 mph. I do not think Winks bike made a full pass thru the traps during the meet. The Kawasaki Vulcan running 1650cc class running P/G has been running 125 all week from the Motorcycle USA group. John Wennerberg on his Nitrous ZX12 fastest pass was 180 mph. He could not hook up all week just on the motor so no nitrous was used. Two bone stock Suzuki Hayabusa ran the Run Wat-Cha Brung class was only able to accomplish 159 and 160 mph. NO more updates tonight course closed. We had our event get together tonight for the event. There still is one more day of racing but it does not go towards the money classes which winners were as follows: Best Engineered Bike: Sam Wheeler Fastest Metric V-Twin: Alan Garbriath Fastest Rhinehardt Pipe: Pete Davis Fastest Outright Motorcycle: Sam Wheeler 322 mph Fastest Conventional Motorcycle: Hank Booth 218.964 mph Fastest Amercian V-Twin: Timbo Horton 188 Fastest MPH/CC: Team McLeish 23.22 mph/CC (2.508 cc motor/58 mph) Jimmy Odum was there having a good time. He was the driver of the ACK ATTACK Streamliner. He got second prize for Fastest Outright Motorcycle and had this to say, "We started slow, but we went out with a big bang." Running will continue until 12 pm tomorrow. Sam Wheeler will be trying for the outright motorcycle record at 322 mph. Sept 10, 2004 7:07 AM Final day of racing and im here in Sam Wheelers pit as they prepare for the record FIM run at the current record of 322 mph held my Easyriders. No wind, temps in the 60's and the salt is the best its been all week. We will see here shortly. First they will run 7 bikes left over from last night then Sam will wait for the best time for his run. As he clears the first clock of the mesaured mile he has 2 hours to make the turnaround run and has to be out of the clocks in that time frame. Wind cannot exceed 3 mph during any part of the record run. The waiting continues.... 8:24 Am Could be moments before Sam Wheeler makes his first leg of the run. Doing Final course inspection, Sam is in the streamliner ready when course is clear. Conditions are dead calm and about 72 degrees. 9:00 AM Sam went thru at a blistering 334 mph. He had a small fire. Sam said it was his worst run thru the mile, got pretty unstable. Going to check system over and see if he can make the turnaround. Stay tuned...
Congrats Aaron, Timbo and Chop! If Sam Wheeler makes the turnaround *(I think)* and goes faster than 310mph, he takes the Easyriders record for fastest motorcycle. |

Should have said he would *officially* take the world record.
quote:10:30 AM Sam is ready to return. In line and staging. This is it right here. He has approx 15 minutes to trip the last clock. 11:15 AM Sam Wheeler had to abort the run before the measured mile due to gusts of wind and an noise that he never had heard before. If he can hear it in the cockpit of the vehicle it must be a very loud noise to hear it over the engine and vehicle. He described the noise like a bearing noise. As Dave Campos watched the return, he said he fuel like a nuce tied around his neck standing on a block of ice. As Dave said unofficially Sam holds the record from Speedweek and officially he still has it. Im sure there will much debate on this, but in fact Sam Wheeler has the ouright fastest motorcycle on the planet at 332 mph two way average during speedweek 2004.
Bummer. Jim, Sure wish I'd been able to get there too.... sounds like it was a great event. |

A report has just come over the landracing.com website from Bonneville that after a 334 mph one-way run earlier this morning, during which a small on-board fire occurred, Sam Wheeler and his team prepared the E-Z-Hook mc 'liner for the other leg of the two-way run required for the F.I.M. world record within the time required. Sam, unfortunately, experienced a mechanical on the return run and had to abort. The Bub Meet has been hampered this week by wet salt in the middle(timed) mile of the ten-mile course. So as things stand now, the official F.I.M. World Record remains with Dave Campos and the Easyriders 'liner with 322.149 mph from 1990. And, Sam Wheeler holds the official Bonneville SCTA 1350cc blown fuel bike streamliner record at 332.410 which he set August 19, 2004. BH |

Blake, I am pretty sure Aaron is in MPS-PF @ 1650 cc. There are no current records as the AMA is the sanctioning body and has no national records. I am pretty sure Aaron was not one of the handful of bikes going after FIM records. Expensive as all get out if memory serves. Aaron should be home tonite and will probably post and correct anything I messed up Paul |

Actually, Bob, us argumentative jerks who bitch at each other in the political threads are mostly blowing steam. There is an effort to persuade one another of the rightness of our views, and it sometimes get's a bit heated. We do try to avoid personal attacks. We don't always succeed. Subjects like war, politics, and motorcycles do get the blood boiling, at times. The only times I have seen Blake ban someone is when he resorts to name calling & goes over the same kind of line that would get me a bloody nose in a bar. Anyone who's an SNL fan can see the humor in responding to a post "Aesquire, you ignorant slut". The one thing we do share, I think, is a love of riding. Buells are quirky bikes, and the technological side of this website has been a great help to me, and others here. If you get p'o'ed at the ( obviously full of sh%^ )political threads. avoid them. |

Leave it to a doggie! All this from a guy who didn't even capitalize United States of America? How proud are you of your service? HOO-ah whatever... You probably joined because you had no where else to go. Don't try to make yourself sound noble and better than others because of your service. You have no idea what Blake may have contributed to America in his lifetime... Semper Fi, Mac |
