Hello, not sure if anyone can help with this but here it goes.

I have a 2005 buell xb12r

My bike sputters at 4-6,000 rpm sometimes resulting in a complete shutdown. If I try to restart it after stopping the bike it will just crank like there is no spark. I let the bike sit for 3-4 minutes and it restarts fine and the problem goes away.

It acts like the stator has gone out but the battery voltage is fine and there is no dimming in the lights gauges or fuel pump.

I was using HID headlights (for a few years with no problem). When I put on my high beams the bike would shut off or backfire. Using ECM spy I had a code "voltage to low". when I switched back to standard H3 bulbs the problem stopped but now I am having this other issue.

I have cleared codes and reset system with a battery disconnect for 15 minutes

Using ECM spy I changed my maps to race then back to stock and problem still persists.

I had fouled the plugs using an octane boost but changed and regapped plugs. After problem continued I check plugs again and they are fine. Coil is new as well as plugs and wires.

I have replaced my rectifier recently and I have no short to grounds that I know of after inspecting all wires.
Battery is new in the last 3 weeks.
- voltage output is good

I have a feeling my stator is the culprit but don't know enough about how it operates and why that would be the issue.

Any help here would be appreciated!
Thank you

I have the same problem on a Ulysses. Been happening for about 15,000 miles. Did find a crack in the ECM around the plug connectors. Glued it shut and relocated it to avoid the seat pan contacting it. Went 300 miles without a miss and now its back. Only error code is the exhaust valve in my gutted pipe. Have checked all wires and different batteries. Just my belief but think a new ECM might fix it.
