I have a big Buell tank bag with no straps, I guess the straps mount to the airbox cover? does anyone have the straps to sell me? |

I have run 4 bikes with Baglux harnesses and bags. It's a great system and the tank protection is unrivalled. However, the zip has failed on 2 of the bags. If I was starting again I'd by a Kriega luggage cube with the tank bra adapter and use it as a tank bag (they are really tail packs). No zips, waterproof, a 10 year guarantee and a variety of sizes (5, 10, 20, & 30 litres. I'd buy 2, a 5 litre for round town and a 10 litre for longer trips. They are not so expensive to buy either. |

I have been using this for some time and have been really satisfied. I needed one with the GPS because I didn't like the idea of paying for two separate items if one could do the trick. I also liked this one because of the included backpack straps, which are very high quality and very comfortable. I often ride the bike when I'm going hiking, and this is the perfect, multipurpose bring along pack. It's affordable, has great included features, including a rain fly that is see-through so you can still use the GPS. And it fits well, is non-intrusive, and mounts the GPS in a really visible view. Has holes out the back to plug your GPS into the Uly's nifty outlet! http://www.motocentric.com/weekender-gps-tank-bag. html |

I run a Wolfman. It's big, but I only use it when I am going somewhere. I too originally had the factory Buell Bag, but the zipper came apart at about a year. I've used the crud out of this one for the past 6 years without an issue. Made very well and the zipper is super tough. Here's a link to their page http://wolfmanluggage.com/collections/tank-bags

I have used the Wolfman Explorer Lite bag for a year. Rugged construction, expands with a zip out, and even protects a bit from the wind. Wish though it would be waterproof, which at this price should have been standard. Also does not have side pockets and I am going to have it customized and those added. The clips harness attach in the front under the air cleaner cover. The rear clips are attached to the frame under the seat and come up between the seat and air cover. When not using the bag, easily lift the seat and put the rear clips under the seat.

+1 on Wolfman products. I run the Explorer when I'm travelling. Three pocketses to keep preciousss things in, and ridiculously roomy when expanded. Requires a shower cap to keep the rain out. The Wolfman Expedition is waterproof; wish I'd had opportunity to see how it fit. Like Gobadgers, I tuck the rear clips away under the seat. I've put front clips on shorter bits of webbing, attached via the front airbox cover screws. I can turn and tuck the business ends of them between the cover and the frame when not in use. They stay put and out of the way.

Dtaylor, How do you like the TKC 80s? How is it in the sand and rocks with the 17s? |

I found the TKC 80s quite nice on pavement and brilliant for trail riding. The front end stays way better planted in the looser & wetter stuff. That said, they are no panacea for a big heavy bike with a small front wheel and my not-so-great off road riding skills. I've not had them in sand, so I can't speak to that. I don't run them all the time. The rear melts away pretty fast on pavement -- although not much faster than the D616s I've experienced. This is how I've got the front clips for my Wolfman bag semi-permanantly placed. I took about 6" of webbing, doubled it and melted a hole so the air box cover screws would pass through it. Tucked away:

Not trying to threadjack but.... Fotoguzzi- Mr. Twisty got fixings for the buell tank bag from joanne fabrics. I believe he got the material for the straps and the plastic clips there then used a glue gun and grommet punch to complete the task. The set up works great in dry weather but when it rains its not good. Without a cover the non waterproof tank bag deteriorates. The cover that came with the bag does not seal tight and lofts at highway speed. I had not used it in torrential rain for three years and forgot what a p.I.t.a. it was. Finding a fix for it is on my short list because as u know it has been a soggy spring here in Mn. |

I've been using a bag on the pillion and jacket pockets for stuff I need at speed, so the bag won't need to be water proof, I'll bag stuff inside w/zip locks. Thanks for that pic of the webbing under airbox, I can do that. |

I ran a Teknic bag for almost a decade, zipper seperated about a half inch at 8 years or so....I would imagine they make a solution for "airboxed" bikes. But it won't be cheap. Quality on mine was fantastic. |

I've been running a OLD wolfman for 4 1/2 years. It was already 6 or 7 years old when I bought it used for $10.00. Its been great, and is just now starting to show it's age. The zipper is starting to fail. I also have a wolfman tailbag and love it! Wolfman makes a number of tankbags for you to chose from, so you can find the size you want. They are not only great quality, but made right here in the USA! wolfmanluggage.com |
