So lately, my 01 blast has been blowing this fuse randomly it seems, it has blow on start up at times, it has waited until about 10 to 15 miles then blows. which sucks because my horn, turns and brake light are all on one fuse, also it makes the bike idle much higher.. Now i have taken the signals off ( i am replacing them and i was hoping by eliminating them i could trouble shoot a bit more) on another note every so often when i turn the key on and try to start it i push the button and nothing... not a sound then i turn key off then on and it then it starts or same kind of idea, ill push the start button and it hesitates for a half second then starts or even i push the button it turns over once then hesistates and then continues starting.. would any of this blow this fuse?? any ideas..? would a loose front or rear body ground cause this? I have traced wires and connot find a short as of now .. im about to say fook it and put individual in line fuses for each thing and see what blows then.. |

Loose grounds cause all kinds of trouble - eliminate that first. Then rotate a fuse - lol EZ |

Hey all, i managed to do some work and i did find that my front engine ground was loose, as well my spark plug wire was loosey, i tighten both, sadly it still blows the system fuse, but only on a longer ride so id say about 30 mins or so, so new thougts,, what would cause it to blow when the bike warms up? any ideas would be greatly appriciated! |

Captain, since you are an ASE mechanic you could maybe be an asset to this site. So what was the problem? Simple or not, caused by you or not, eventually someone else will have it too. Blasts problems generally tend to be alike in nature. IE: most ignition problems tend to be the module and not the coil. Others bikes might tend to be the coil, but experience has taught us the module has a much bigger failure rate on the Blast! |

This was a simple case of mule headed stubborness. Recently i Replaced my auto Enrichener and against my norm, i left more length of wire than i normally would. My thought process at the time was that it wouldnt hurt to have a little more wire there. But since these ike like to vibrate, it pushed the connector that ties both the auto enrich. and throttle position sensor into the harness got pushed against a internal hex head bolt and rubbed through the wire almost completely. i was stubborn and put in my head that it couldnt have anything to do with that area since i was just there, but after finally giving in and looking i found it in a matter of seconds. just goes to show you even with years in the job you can always cause an issue. haha |
