I have been having ongoing issues with my 08 Uly all year. Mainly stumbling, cutting out, and occasional stalling. It is really taking the fun out of riding my favorite bike ever. Bike has Ebr Ecm and stock pipe. Stator replaced under warranty, and new batter, load tests fine. The running problems happen with both the stock and Ebr Ecm. I have done the following: New plugs Temp sensor O2 sensor Relocated ecm Check all grounds Rotated engine and checked wiring harness as best i could. No problems found. It is not really throwing any error codes. I did ride around and log with a laptop and ecmspy and it shows many overvoltage errors. I'm thinking there is an intermittent short somewhere. Went for a ride the other day and was running reasonably well until I ran full throttle, then stalled. No codes. It would not restart until I turned key all the way off. Then started fine, ran ok until full throttle, then stalled again. Repeat Any ideas? |

What is you AFV at AFTER you ride? Mine was dropping into the 60's. I did all that you did and more. I had pretty much the same symptoms/issue that you describe. (As was DAVE.) I posted up my issue and Dave rec'd to replace the Rear Injector. I finally got a hold of and spoke to the BUELL TECH dudes in East Troy (EBR) via email and they ALSO rec'd as did Dave to R&R BOTH the Injectors and do a thorough cleaning of the Throttle Body. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/727137.html?1386022992 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/728298.html?1387916445 I finally pulled out and tore down the entire Throttle Body, cleaned ALL the built up carbon in everything including the IAC (it was filthy and surely impeding it's fluid operation) and replaced the Injectors. Just put her back together last night, reset AFV to 100%, reset the TPS and did some test rides this morning. She is running/idling perfectly. Drooling/Dripping Injectors = Piss Poor performance. That may make sense since I got 71 miles from my last tank of gas. Wish I would have posted before putting everything back together, the injectors were clear of the frame rail. |

Al at American Sport Bike has them both (Fornt and Rear) in stock. I highly recommend to replace em both as was rec'd to me by the dudes at EBR. http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-c atshow/XB12Xair.html |

Fast forward a couple of months... Took the bike to the dealer who replaced the exhaust valve actuator. They said the race Ecm would not work, but the stock ecm would. Rode home-ran ok, not great. Rode today and it would not idle and starting to backfire, bog and cut out again. |

Checked codes: Injector 1 short to supply voltage Tach output short to supply voltage Fuel pump short to supply voltage Injector 2 short to supply voltage Starter relay short to supply voltage Aux power relay failure Vs output short to ground/broken wire I opened up both ECMs and checked for cracked solder joints, or broken wires/traces. Looked good, so sealed them both up. While running, I yanked and twisted the wires and connectors to the ECM, no change in engine running or new codes. Looks like I have a short/open somewhere. Any idea where to look or best method to troubleshoot? |

When confronted with a long list of fault codes like that on my X-1, the usual culprit is a bad Engine Temp Sensor. Don't know if that would apply to your bike. Not having an '08 XB wiring diagram to hand, is there a common power source (wire) to all of those 'appliances'? Perhaps one relay? Hope this helps, Dave |

Just installed a new race ECM. Runs like a new bike! I've been screwing around with this thing for the better part of year. They guy at EBR told me the ECMs don't go bad. |

I'm glad you finally figured it out! |

how did you protect your ECM from the flexing of the seat? your symptoms sound pretty typical for the broken ECM connector issue. |

I relocated the ecm under and forward of the stock location. Much lower. Kept the plastic standoff block bolted to the original location which should keep the seat from contacting. |

I had the ECM failure at that location. Now I moved it between the battery and fuse box.Did the battery tray mod to make room. what kind of fuel milage are you getting with the race ecm |
