http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harley-Davidson_Stree t The Street 500 will replace the Blast in the training program. There are some similarities with the Blast in these bikes. The sole difference between the 500 and 750 bikes is the motor's stroke. |

I rode the 500cc model yesterday. The engine, clutch and transmission are smoother than any other motorcycle that I ever rode. The seat height is for someone about 5 ft. tall, the foot pegs are too far forward and the rear brake didn't work. Kenny G |

Have not rode them yet, "BUT" they follow the standard H-D mentality: HEAVY !!! |

ED, Actually it didn't feel like a tiny bike, and it wasn't offensively loud, but it wasn't very peppy either. I did have a 3/4 helmet on when I rode and that blocks some of the noise. My biggest complaint was how low the seat is and the rear brake was not properly adjusted so it was difficult to stop. Where the pegs are located makes it difficult to reach the brake pedal. Naturally Harley will have an after market seat, that will be out of this world price wise. I figure with freight, dealer prep, a proper seat, the sales tax and the 1000 mile service it would cost $8500.00 "out the door". I can think of better ways to spend my money. Kenny G |

I was disappointed to see it weighs 480, but there are no plastic bits on it- it's all metal, the tank is bigger, and it has two rear shocks, and its designed to actually have a passenger. It also addresses the same market as the low seat Blast, those people with under 30 inch inseams who want to flat foot the bike. They will sell a lot of these bikes- and they'll be stealing the sales from the Jap bikes by the bushel. But if they were keen on setting the world of biking ablaze, they would include an automatic transmission option. |

Yeah - I think we need to be careful of just poo-poo'ing these bikes just because it's fun to poke fun at them (and we like our Blasts, etc.). Harley is going to make a killing on the Street models regardless of all the wanking on forums across the net. It's 100 lbs lighter than the lightest Harley to date - it's not slow (750 model is the one to get, by the way), it's water cooled (about time for Harley), and they are very easy to corner and drive in town (the target market for these bikes). I'm sticking with my Blast and the Sportster (the Blast being my favorite, by far); but I can see the appeal of the Street models quite easily. I think the MoCo has a big hit on their hands. |

Jay - that's the 750cc - and there are a lot of hoped up 500cc Blasts out there that will wipe the floor with that any day or time of the week - period. I've seen em, heard em, and tested one - they are heavy, slow, chunks of metal - a 3/4 HD - and not worth a dime. You want to stop - better grab a foot and fist full and pray. HD lovers need to go elsewhere - shit is shit and just because it has an HD badge - that is not buying any relief here - period. Check the title of this forum and then read what I just said, and remember. EZ |

LOL - they should sell a lot of them - they have a HD badge and are almost 5 grand cheaper than even an 883 - now you can pose like the pro's for half the price. What more do you want? - lol EZ |

Well, all I can say is "good luck selling them"! At 480lbs they are only 30lbs lighter than the pre rubber mount Sportster. Sportsters are always the last to sell, the XR models sat on the floor for years, this bike won't be much different. Sell like "hot cakes"? Not likely. it will be interesting to watch. With Buell they had a viable brand to grow the HD market. I see these new bikes as a dead end. From my experience, I can't see the salespeople even trying to sell them. There will be lots of these with low mileage and cheap for years to come. Harley's Edsel! |

When H-D gets to far away from nostalgia the NOSTALGIA SALES PERSONAL will not be able to sell the new product !!! |

Its too bad I sold my blast. I would have liked to have had some "street" action against some of these bikes. Too bad Buell never go FI and a 6th gear for the blast. So the 500 has that advantage. I suppose the Street could have beaten me while I was waiting for my blast to warm up. Or maybe it is not limited to 92 mph. HDs are everywhere where I live and against my XB9s they can not hang. Blast v. Street pig would have at least given them a fighting chance. Of course the no helmet HD chaps crowd will not even make eye contact when I'm on the 1125cr. Interestingly, the HD website doesn't even have the HP figures for the 500 and 750. HP is not important to HD. Image over performance - the new american way. |

Your rant shows you have moved on from the specific bitterness of Buell corporate murder and moved on to the general stupidity of HD. Mine rant is a comparo, 2000 blast is still better than a 2014 HD 500. (I forgot, my blast got 69 mpg regardless of beating on the highway or beating on the back roads- Street 500 is 41 mpg). Bottom line if want HP don't go HD, even at the basic starter level. |

"You Cannot Make A Silk Purse Out Of Sows Ear" I test drove one of the new Indian Harleys and they are smooth running, the clutch and transmission are probably the smoothest of any cycle that I have ever been on. They are heavier than a bulldozer, corner like a RediMix Concrete Truck and stop slower than a railroad train. I don't think I will ever want one. Kenny G |

Actually, the Street 750 was dyno'd and puts out 57.6 bhp at the crank. That's more than any Shadow 750, even the Sportster 883. Yamaha's 900cc Bolt only makes about 47 hp. Ducati's Monster 696 makes about 65 hp. The Street 750 isn't short on power. At all. (Message edited by Chief Ten Bears on June 18, 2014) |
