I am putting this in the right forum(had this in the general discussion area). My x1 started smoking intermitently so I did a breather reroute hoping it would fix the problem but it didnt. The bike will only smoke after decelerating using engine braking. My next step would be too pull the motor and do a compression and leak down to find the problem area. So far I could only think of the rings, valve guides or head gasket as being a problem area. Anything Im missing? |

You don't need to pull the motor for a compression check. Just make sure you have a strong battery and hold the throttle open. The valve guide seals sound like the culprit. When the throttle is closed when engine braking the piston is trying to pull vacuum and possibly sucking oil past the seals. MM |
