A Couple of questions here. I just bought a 1997 buell s1. The shift linkage is jacked. Are there any years of buell or harley that are interchangable? anyone know of a cheap aftermarket company that sells the whole linkage setup? Also, My fork seals are bad and i cant find anyone that sells them. Are they interchangable with a certain year of buell as well? |

Sam, being in CA you are close to one of the best Buell parts suppliers and customer service providers available to us. Call Al at American Sport Bike, in Vista, he can get you the parts you need and probably tell you about fork seals and stuff off the top of his head as he does on an S1 among other Buell models. Suggest upgrading your linkage to the 2001+ model year part for better function, unless you are all about keeping it stock. 760-727-2333 |

S1 would use the 2001+ X1 shifter, which Al doesn't have. He may still have a few of the Banke X1 shifters that he had specially made for us badwebbers a few months ago still in stock, but they aren't cheap. There were a handful of folks that preordered them from American Sport Bike, and who may have their old stock shifter laying around. I'm not sure I want to give mine up. |

While talking with Al about shifters, you could also get the fork seals: http://americansportbike.com/newdir/Item/6156 The X1 shifter is the best low cost option. Al used to have them - I bought the one that is on Veronica there - but may have run out. You could cruise e-bay for it, but it's a popular part as it is backwards compatible with most of the earlier models with the boomerang shifter. |

I have an old Boomerang style shifter you can have for $15 if Al doesn't have what you need. I'm fairly sure it will work on your bike, though the reach is where I'm uncertain, and it's not the chrome shifter on your bike, but the cast aluminum part from an S3. |

Never-mind, I'm advised that the S3/M2 shifter won't fit a S1. |
