Hello all as the title says I am new to the buell brand. I have den a bit of research but had some questions about mods. The one mod I'm interested In is the one that's smoothes out the low rpm driveability...The bike has a stock exhaust but does have a k+n filter. I'm on stock ecu. Something I'm not sure about is exhaust choice. I don't want it too loud, but a power gain would be nice. What are your opinions |

Rotor upgrade? I didn't look too deep into this is it front and rear? I'll search for a bit on that one as I do remember seeing it. However the clurch (clutch?) Kit? Can you please point me in the right direction. I did see that some had weeping issues. Does this solve this issue? The Buell only has 2800 miles iron it. And most of all thank you for the welcoming |

Dvd - I think he's talking rotor as in stator/rotor. 2009 model year has a tendency to burn out the stator and EBR has a mod (core exchange) where they've drilled an oil squirt hole in the rotor that is fed by a crank shaft oil galley. I don't have a 2009 but by all accounts it seems to be a pretty good fix from what I read. In some cases folks have reverted to the 2008 stator/rotor with good success as well. There is a whole sub category in this forum devoted to the stator issues so probably some good reading in there for you. At the very least you'll be able to recognize and diagnose a crapped out stator if/when it goes. EBR also has an upgraded brake rotor and mounting hw kit as well however you probably only need that if you serious track day junkie. For normal street riding and occasional track day the stock one will probably work just fine. As for the clutch kit, EBR has a revised slave cylinder that has proven to be very reliable. I am still having good luck with the latest stock Buell slave cylinder part number but I know it's only a matter of time before it starts weeping again. When it does I'll be upgrading. Good luck with the bike - you'll find good info and good folk on this site. |

Yes I am talking about the stator and rotor upgrade and this is the clutch http://www.erikbuellracing.com/store/parts-accesso ries/clutch/ebr-clutch-actuator-cylinder-kit.html This is the actuator kit to get. The 09 stator is kinda doomed especially if you ride in traffic not a big deal a fairly easy fix kit to get.You can get the upgrade from ebr as well I would have my stator rewound as well while you have it off but if it isn't burnt it should be ok. The EBR ecm will just make it HUM!!!!!! |

Ok thank you guys, I didn't know about the stator issues in the 09's. I did see a little about a machine shop machining the rotor to allow for "air" cooling vs the EBR with the oil weep hole... which is the better route? EBR is easy, buy it before you take the casing apart, but I also don't really want to pay 200+ for a less than ideal part. (Do it right the first time). Another aspect to this is Rick's is only 45-1hr away from my house. 145 is a fair price if I do ever need a new rewind. One thing I have not come across is how long on average it takes to complete the job. I am mechanically inclined, but work 80 hrs a week, My time is limited. Also has anybody reported how much a shop charged for this fix? Also thank you for the link. I would have taken a few more days to find that! =). Again thank you so much for your time. |
