Actually Red Bull is an Austrian company. Which is why Greg, I said 'essentially'! Anschluss! Exactamundo! Rocket in England |

Which is why Greg, I said 'essentially'! By the same logic Fosters is 'essentially' an English beer and Casey Stoner is 'essentially' an English rider. In my best Al Borland voice, "I don't think so Tim (Sean)." G |

Ok Greg, just so you know why I posted the comment bringing attention to the German connection, Red Bull's founder / owner being Austrian. Mark Webber was often least favoured as team mate with Vettel. The most obvious was Vettel refusing Webber the race win when team orders were given on the pit to car radio, heard live on TV. There were several suspect incidents that befell Webber which were team inflicted mistakes. Favouritism to the German driver by Red Bulls Austrian owner was often cited by many, claiming he favoured a German winning and not an Australian. Rocket in England |

Anyone going to be in Austin this weekend? All the talk has been in the World Superbike thread (understandable as we all have a "dog in the show" in that series). My prediction: 1) Marquez 2) Pedrosa Then toss a coin for Bradl or Bautista. Hopefully practices and qualifying will make this look like a far more interesting race to me than a complete Honda blow-out... |

I would have agreed with you until a couple of weeks ago, but Now I'm not sure. I think Marquez will still win but the rest of the podium will be very close. I actually think it could be.... 1. Marquez 2. Bautista 3. Rossi (or Lorenzo...hedge my bets a bit) Pedrosa doesn't seem to be himself this season so far but maybe he'll surprise me. Far more interesting in the Moto 2/Moto3 classes though as usual, and you could pick the winner out of a hat in either class really. |

Rossi does better on "Honda tracks" like Austin though Lorenzo's team were able to play with his gearing last year so he didn't have to shift so often while cornering (which costs him time). But the Honda's power off the bottom favors a track like CoTA more than Yamaha's flowing lines. Lorenzo surprised me last year... maybe he will again. I'll have a better idea on Friday, I suspect. |

I was impressed with Bradl, and the good racing in general last race. I am very much looking forward to the event. I bought the streaming packages for MotoGP and WSBK. I watched a Moto 3 race last night and the racing was awesome. I was impressed that the Mahindra did so well. Go Josh Herrin!!!!!!!! |

Go Josh Herrin !! I've been a fan of Josh Herrin for some years now, but I think his chances of winning the Moto2 race depend an awful lot on what happens to 15 people in front of him unfortunately. It is a shame that the Austin round is so close to the start of the season, as he is still getting to grips with Moto2 at this point. I'd like to see Nakagami win after his unfortunate diqualification (through no fault of his own) in Qatar, and of course will be cheering loudly for Sam Lowes and Gino Rea in Moto2 and John McPhee in Moto3 (Although I suspect we may see another Marquez victory in this class as well) |

FP2: http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2014/Apr/140411cv.h tm Whatever Dovi is taking for his flu, I think the rest of the field should try too... Oh by the way... for those doubters who questioned my statement: "Marquez OWNS COTA," I hope my point is getting clearer?? |

He didn't in Qatar... what makes you think he'll do it here? And before that even happens, Rossi will have to get close enough to pose a threat. I don't see that happening. The race is for SECOND place. First place is already sewn up before the flag drops Sunday. By the way, I'm NOT happy about the situation either. I can't STAND seeing ANY Honda rider on the top step of the podium. |

Maybe; and maybe not. I remember going to Indy for the GP in 2009. The little Rat Weasel was the fastest bike out there in Practice and Qualifying. Then he threw it away while running away with the race. Lorenzo went on to win the race. Sometimes justice does prevail. |

Rossi gave him a wake up call in Qatar. If Rossi, looking at his practice pace, keeps the pressure up, Marquez might just try too hard. We saw him do it last season, and he'll likely do it again. Rocket in England |

Age and deception beats youth and enthusiasm. But I am afraid that if Marquis gets a run up and some distance, he will in fact run away with it. If Rossi can get him in a brawl, the old master may just win. But it is wide open, with many competitive riders. I am looking forward to some great racing. |

Rossi is in a rather unfortunate position due to his GOAT status and being at the latter end of his Moto GP racer career. Despite him still being the fastest rider in the world, where only splitting hairs would on some occasions, but nothing like a careers length or even a seasons worth could prove otherwise, Rossi is spoken of as if he's had his time and only the odd flights of luck will offer him opportunities to win again. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is what I hope to see this season. Rossi taking the fight for wins and not podium places. In a few hours we will see this happen when Rossi asserts his position as the GOAT by not finishing behind the usual suspects of last season. He might not take the top step but that's the one all race he'll be trying for. No settling for places. His gloves are off. Rocket in England |

Unfortunately as much aas I admire Rossi I really can't see him or anyone else getting a glimpse of Marquez unless he makes a big mistake. Over a second faster than the second guy is enormous (the next 10 are separated by less distance!) and he hasn't got into the 'soft tyre qualifying mindset yet'. He is a deeply impressive young rider and I think he will be looking at back to back titles this year |

And as Marquez demonstrated last year, he just doesn't CARE who is challenging him. If he feels threatened, he will do whatever is necessary to win... like passing Rossi in the dirt at Laguna Seca, or punting Lorenzo off the track. I stand my ground: The race tomorrow is for SECOND place. |

Yeah Marquez does seem to crumble under pressure like some have. I love Rossi; clearly the greatest of his time but Marc is the coming phenom and if he stays healthy could win a lot of races and championships. I really hope VR (or anyone for that matter) can challenge him as that would be great fun but the kid is a real talent. Watch his corner entries; he is steering with the rear and using the bikes power like the old timers did. qutie a show. |

Could not agree more with you all, but I've not written Rossi off as able to beat him. Just the Yamaha will struggle big time at certain tracks more than others. Marquez Rossi same bike. That's the ticket! Rocket in England |
