All, Looking to purchase my first bike, an '01 Blast. I've done some homework and am tracking the rocker box gasket is most likely bad. The bike has 5500 miles on it and am unsure if the gasket has been changed. I will visually inspect the bike this Sun and remember coming across a post somewhere on the internet about a way to visually identify if the new gasket had been installed from the outside. Is this possible and if so can someone direct me to the specific write-up? I'd ask the current owner but it didn't sound like he was the original owner nor put much mechanical effort into the bike. Thanks. |

Okay - on the front of the engine, behind the frame "triangle" on the right side (upper side) there will be what looks like an inlet. Run your hand inside of that and you will (or will not) feel a very slim metal plate running across the opening. If it is there, the gasket has been changed from the old paper gasket. |
